I would like to say a big thank you to the Miss Georgia Sweet potato Queens, The Miss Irwin County Queens and The Miss Spirit of Christmas Queens for being apart of our festival today. You were all beautiful and looked great on your floats. Thank you to the parents of these girls for having them here today. We can always depend on you. A tragedy has occurred that will prevent the director, Annie Morgan from attending this weekend so I am taking over full directorship responsibility. Annie's sister-in-law has passed away in the early hours of a massive heart attack. She was 48 years old. We are so excited about this years pageant. We are hearing from contestants daily. We are hoping to have a great turnout. We want everyone to know that this is a fund raising pageant. If we have a queen from last year that is moving up in an age group, and would like to compete instead of helping crown we will allow it. She will not be introduced as last years queen or be allowed to help in anyway at the pageant. This will be their choice on doing this. We will let married, with children, or divorced as long as you fall in the age category of the Miss Division.
This is a fun pageant and the money is going to a good cause. If we can get at least five for a MS. division we will have that age group also. Our New Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Queens will be special guests and will be helping our reigning Miss Spirit of Christmas Queens with the crowning. We would like to invite everyone to come and join us for a fun night and help kick off the Christmas season.

The 47th annual Georgia Sweet Potato Festival is this Saturday October the 27th. The parade will start at 11:00 am. Come and see all our beautiful Queens on their floats.

Our Christmas angel Queens are the contestants that collect the most money in their age group. We will crown one per age group. You must have at least $50.00 in you peoples choice to qualify for this title. All proceeds from this will be used to buy gifts for the nursing home residents. We will have one overall winner from the peoples choice. They will win a crown,dvd player, holiday barbie and much more. Start collecting your money now. All Christmas Angel Queens will receive a crown, monogrammed banner, crowning pin and gift. They will get to go to the nursing home party along with the Miss Spirit of Christmas Queens. We are gearing up for another one. Our 7th annual Miss Spirit of Christmas pageant is November the 10th. It will be at the Grand theater in Fitzgerald. Contestants that competed in Miss Irwin County and Miss Georgia Sweet Potato will receive all optionals free. This is our pageant that benefits our area nursing home residents. Our new Christmas Queens, Miss Irwin County Queens and our Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Queens will all get to go to the nursing home and help us give out gifts to the residents and have them a party. Thank you to everyone for their prayers, phone calls about the little girl who was shocked at the pageant yesterday. I talked with her family late this evening and she is o.k.
They kept her overnight in the hospital for observation. She is home now and doing fine. She is ready to do another pageant. Children can get hurt so quick. For everyone who doesn't know what happened, the little girl was in the dressing room getting ready, she had a bobby pin in her hand and stuck it in a wall plug. We are all so thankful that she is ok. Again thank you for all of your concerns and prayers and her family thanks you also.

I hate to see my year as Teen Miss Sweet Potato come to an end, but I wish all the girls competing the best of luck. Whoever wins will have a great year. I will be there at the beginning of the pageant as well as for interviews, but we are having our homecoming dance Saturday night, so I will miss the actual Teen competition. I wish I could be in 2 places at one time, actually 3. Our varisty softball team is playing for the region title Saturday morning, which I will be missing as well :-(

I know Miss Vickie and Mr. Noah have a great pageant planned and I can't wait to see everyone. Again good luck to you all!!

2nd Annual Southern Harvest pageant will be held November 17th at the Sumner Auditorium 702 Walnut St Sumner, GA. There are 4 chances to win a crown 5 inch crowns Division, 5 inch crowns Peoples choice, 5 inch crowns Miss Charity with 6 foot trophies, and 7 inch crowns for Supreme with 6 foot trophies. Start collecting your nonperishable food items and your dollar votes now for Miss Charity and Peoples Choice Queens. Last year we raised enough to feed 80 families. I hope that you come out to help with this wonderful cause, and maybe we can double the number that we feed this year.

We are are having a new design made on our banners and they are going to look great. Can't wait to see them when they are finished. Get those applications on in for your chance to represent one of the oldest pageants in Georgia. We are hearing from alot of girls and we are excited about this years pageant. Our theme for this year at the Sweet Potato festival is " Life is Like a Sack of Tators ". The New Queens will be a big part of the festival with a luncheon on Friday at Irwin EMC for the farmers. On Saturday morning you will attend the VIP breakfast at Planter's First. You will all be recognized as the reigning Georgia Sweet Potato Queens. There will be a professional float for you to ride on sponsered by one of our local banks. Afterwards you will attend the arts and crafts area and be seen as our new Georgia Sweet Potato Queens. The fun channel is always there and likes to interview the new Queens. This is always a very busy and fun day for our Queens. Only two weeks away from the pageant. You don't want to miss out.

We are planning a great pageant for this year.
Here is our agenda for the 47th Annual Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Pageant.

Opening number with The reigning Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Queens and Brandon Giddens doing a Kenny Chesney #1 hit. You don't want to miss this.

We will crown after every two age groups.
This year our petite miss will be in interview and on stage with sportwear just like the Teen and Miss contestants. Our interviews start at 10:00 am that morning for Petite, 11:00 for Teen and 12:00 for Miss. Our Georgia Sweet Potato Queens will have lunch with the judges and we will start the pageant at 4:00 pm. Miss Georgia 2007 Leah Massee will be emceeing along with Teen Miss Jamie Kay Ireland and Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Queen Lisa Renshaw. We will have entertainment also by Miss Georgia. All proceeds collected from our people's choice will be given to Miss Georgia for the Children's Miracle Network. We have alot of beautiful young ladies competing for the title and I want to wish them all the best of luck. Come and join us for a fun filled afternoon.

I just wanted to let everyone know that Jamie Kay won the Teen Miss Tift County Pageant last night. She also won the interview award, prettiest dress, and prettiest smile. I was very proud of her, as she was still not feeling the best from having all 4 wisdom teeth removed last Tuesday.

Also congratulations to Kylie Barnes, Teeny Miss Tift County Queen, prettiest dress, and prettiest smile, Taylor Dupriest, Junior Miss Tift County Queen, interview award, prettiest dress and prettiest smile, Mary Madelynn Cardin, Little Miss Tift County Queen, Gina Stanfield, Miss Tift County Queen (not sure about optionals on those).

Sydnee, Mandee, and Shannon, you all did a great job.

Jamie Kay had surgery to remove all 4 wisdom teeth this morning. She has been pretty much out of it all day. She is so funny though, every time she would wake up she'd ask me if she got to keep her teeth. I said yes, why? She said she wanted to put them under her pillow!! Still my baby :-) Each time she'd ask, I'd say Jamie, how many times are you going to ask that? She doesn't remember anything!! Too much medication.

Please pray for a speedy recovery. She is entered to compete in the Teen Miss Tift County Saturday.

The Ray City Church of God is hosting a kid's sale October 4-6 in Ray City, GA. Only the first 100 applicants will be allowed to participate. Here's how it works:
Please call Jennifer Suggs(229-482-9856) or Lesley Rowland(229-482-9561) to set up your appointment on the receiving dates of Monday, October 1st and Tuesday October 2nd between 4 and 7pm. Please bring a minimum of 10 items, maximum of 50. You may bring clothing items, toys or furniture as long as it is for kids only-Girls up to size 16 and boys up to size 20. Only Fall and Winter clothes will be accepted. Clothes must be cleaned, pressed and on a hanger. Items with tears, stains, missing buttons or out of date styles will not be accepted. On a 3X5 index card, price your own items in the bottom right hand corner, put your account number in the top right hand corner and put a brief description and size in the center of the index card. Securely attach your index cards to each item using a straight pen or tagging tool. Do not puncture areas that will damage the garment. Toys must be clean and index cards securely attached. No missing parts or broken toys. Furniture must be clean and missing no parts required for assembly. Index cards must be securely attached using tape or cord. Shoes and toy items small enough to fit should be sealed in clear ziploc bags with the index card clearly visible in the front.

The Pre-Sale (for registered sellers only) will be Thursday October 4, from 6-8pm. The public sale will be Friday and Saturday October 5th from 10am to 7pm and October 6th from 8am to 2pm. On Saturday, all items will be discounted to 50% off unless indicated by putting "ND" (no discount) in red on your index card. ND must be in red.
Unsold items and checks must be picked up on Monday, October 8th or Tuesday October 9th from 9-11am or 4-6pm. If items or profit is not picked up on these dates, it will be donated to charity.

I would like to thank my Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Queen Lisa Renshaw. Lisa was invited by Miss Georgia Leah Massee to help her and other Queens with a benefit for the Childrens Miracle Network. They were all waitresses at Floyd's in Fitzgerald yesterday and all tips taken in were given to CMN. After being on her feet for about four hours , Lisa came and judged the Miss Irwin County pageant. The Miss Irwin County pageant is scheduled for September the 15th. It is open to girls 1-12 years from any county. Teen and Miss is closed to Irwin County girls only. If you win Irwin County your entrance fee is paid to compete in Sweet Potato. All proceeds from people's choice for both pageants will go to the Childrens Miracle Network. Miss Georgia Leah Massee will be emceeing at Sweet Potato and the CMN is her platform for the Miss America Pageant. Come join us for a two good pageants and helping a good cause. Miss Georgia Sweet Potato is October the 13th. It is open to girls ages 1-23 years from any county in Georgia. Applications are coming in for both pageants and we do limit our age divisions. I would like to thank our Teen Miss Irwin County Queen Devin Griffin and our Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Hospitality Queen Sydnee Tyson for coming to East Central Tech. College this Saturday.
They had their summer fest and was it alot of fun for the girls. Special guest was Miss Georgia Leah Masse and the girls got their picture made with her and also an autograph. Thanks for coming because it sure was hot.

Applications are going out for Miss Irwin County for September the 15th. This is a prelim to Miss Georgia Sweet Potato. All winners will have their entrance fee paid to Sweet Potato. Miss Georgia Leah Massee will be emceeing at the Sweet Potato Pageant along with Our Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Queen, Lisa Renshaw. Entrance fee is only $50.00 and you can do all optionals for $25.00 for Miss Irwin County.Remember if you win you can compete in Sweet Potato at our expense. You would only have to pay for optionals if you choose to do them and they are only $25.00 for all four. The Miss Liberty Pageant is going to slip right up on us. The pageant is July 21st at 2 pm in Willacoochee, GA (in between Tifton & Waycross on Hwy 82). The final deadline and pratice is July 19th, you can enter for $ 85. The categories are: Beauty, Photogenic, Prettiest Dress, Prettiest Smile, and Prettiest Hair. The Division Queen will receive a discount price to enter the Annual Miss Sweet Potato State Pageant. We will also have Peoples Choice in each division, and we will also have 1 Overall Peoples Choice. To be eligible for Overall Peoples Choice, you will need to collect at least $ 75. The Overall Peoples Choice will receive a Monogrammed Sash, Trophy, Crown, & a Tote Bag. The division Peoples Choice will receive a trophy.
A portion of the pageant will go to help the Disabled Veterans’ and to the American Heart Association.

I think it is neat that Leah supports the Children's Miracle Network. Shelby has been raising money and doing the telethon since she was 5 years old. That's a long time to something like that at such a young age. She always says if she makes it to Miss Ga, that will be her platform. Just wanted to share this bit of info with you guys.

Miss Georgia 2007 Leah Masse will be coming to the Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Pageant. Leah will be helping Our Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Queen, Lisa Renshaw emcee and provide entertainment. All proceeds from our people's choice money will go to The Childrens Miracle Network. Leah has worked with this organization for the last eight years. We will have autographed pictures of Miss Georgia to give out to the girls that raise the most money in their age divisions and to ones that give a donation of $10.00 or more.The winners in each age division of the people's choice will also get to have their picture made with Miss Georgia. Leah Massee was crowned Miss Georgia 2007 last night. What a night it was. Noah and I were there to see it and it was awesome. Leah was a former Teen Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Queen and also a Miss Georgia Charisma Queen. We are all making plans to go to Miss America and cheer Leah on. If no one has never been to a Miss Georgia pageant please make plans to go next year. It was one of the most exciting events that I ever got to experience but was even more exciting to see one of your former queens get to be crowned MISS GEORGIA 2007. We are so excited for Leah and her family and can't wait until we can get her back to Fitzgerald for appearances as Miss Georgia. We love you Leah and hope you have the best year representing our state.

We are gearing up for our 47th annual Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Pageant. I cannot beleive the emails I am geting for people wanting applications. I am hoping our website will be finished very very soon. Our Miss Irwin County will be September 15th. Remember it is a prelim to Sweet Potato, so any ages 1-12 can enter from any county. If you win your entrance fee is paid to Sweet Potato. Our Teen and Miss is closed for Irwin County girls for the Miss Irwin County pageant.
We are putting in interview this year for our 10-12 group in Sweet potato. Alot of mothers and contestants have been asking for it so we are glad that we can offer it to them.
Our interviews will start at 10:00 AM FOR PETITE,
11:00 AM FOR TEEN and 12:00 for MISS.
The pageant will start at 4:00 pm.

I would like to say a special congraulations to my granddaughter Sydnee Tyson. She won petite Miss Willacoochee yesterday. She won a beautiful crown, monogrammed banner and a nice gift bag. Hello Everyone!
It is that time of year again for our Annual Miss Willacoochee Old Fashion Day Pageant. The pageant is scheduled for May 26 @ Willacoochee Elementary School in Willacoochee GA! This year a portion of the proceeds will be donated to American Heart Association & to the Disabled Veterans in Honor of My Daddy, Ronnie M. McGovern. As most of you know, my daddy passed April 26, 2006. He had a massive heart attack. He was a very active veteran.
This year we have already set our dates for all of our pageants, and they are as follows: Miss Liberty-July 21, Miss Atkinson Co. - September 8, & Miss Southeast Angel's Christmas Pageant-November 10. The Miss Atkinson County is open to all counties. A portion of proceeds of the future pageants will also be donated to American Heart Association & to the Disabled Veterans.
Please keep checking our website for any updates made to any of our pageant. Don't forget to sign our guestbook for a chance to win fees off, and our early bird discount.

The ages for Sweet potato are 1-3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-16 years and 17-23 years.We have combined the younger age group and elimenated an age group. We did have 1-23 months and 2-3 years but it will now be 1-3 years. We use to have it like this but changed when we had so many girls in that age group that we needed to split it but it is easier to work with only six Queens and it helps on expenses. We will probably fill up fast because we only take fifteen to twenty girls in each age division so as it gets closer get your name on the list.

The 4th annual Miss Lowndes County Pageant will be held on May 12, 2007 at Lowndes High School in Valdosta. This pageant is open to any girl ages 1-23 in any county in GA/FL/AL. This is a fundraiser pageant for the LHS Basketball program. Great prizes and optional Sportswear with a "sport theme". You may choose your favorite sport or hobby as your casual wear. First, I'd like to thank all the parents and contestants who were involved in our pageant yesterday. All of our contestants were very beautiful and any one of you would have made a wonderful Queen for the Grits Festival. As one of our last years Queen said in her farewell speech, "if you don't win the crown today, keep trying, you might win the next one". This is so true, as we all know that a pageant is an opinion of the given judges on that given day.

We as directors especially appreciate all of the parents and contestants being so kind and supportive of each other. We hope you all had a great time and will be back next year for another fun filled event.

The Georgia Sweet Potato Queens will be traveling to Atlanta Tuesday morning to the Annual Agricultral Day with the Governor. We will stop for pictures at the capitol with the Governor and then attend the Ag. events at the Depot. It is a great opportunity for the girls to represent their title. Wish us all a safe travel as we hit the road early Tuesday morning.

Thank you to Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Queen , Lisa Renshaw & Teen Miss Sweet Potato, Jamie Kay Ireland, Miss Irwin County, Lakin Boykin & Teen Miss Irwin County, Devin Griffin for attending the Ocilla Chamber of Commerce banquet tonight. Also thanks to the moms & dad who come. You always make me so proud. The girls helped give out door prizes and after our meal we were entertained by Karla Heath-Sands. All the girls got to meet her and have their picture made with her. Thanks again for coming. All four of you have done a great job representing your title. Kay, we are sorry you missed it but we enjoyed having your husband join us.See you in Atlanta next week.

There are two good pageants this month that I would like to encourage girls to do and they are Miss Georgia Peach and Miss Dogwood. They run good pageants and the Queens get to make appearances but can still do other pageants. Miss Lisa Renshaw and Miss Haley Warren are Dogwood Queens and are also Georgia Sweet Potato Queens. There has been no problems with them holding both of these titles. They each have a nice prize package and would be great titles to hold. Give them a call. Don't forget also Miss Georgia Charisma is April the 7th and I am very partial to this pageant. Noah is a great director and the money goes to a good cause.The Miss Georgia Sweet Potato is going to be October the 13th and we are working on making some changes for it. Keep checking for updates.

There is still time to enter the Miss Georgia peach Pageant to be held Mar 10 at the Pettigrew Center in Fort Valley. Deadline is Mar 5. Contestants needed especially in the Tiny miss - ages 4 - 6. Only 15 accepted per age group. Other age groups are 7-10, 11-13, 14-16, 17-23.
We are an established well-organized pageant who has seen former Peach queens go on to bigger things. We encourage our queens to participate in other pageants. 12th Annual Miss Dogwood State Scholarship Pageant March 17th Nashville, GA Berrien Middle School
