It has been some time since I have ventured into the blog....specifically since the fall of 2003 when the blog changed and became very hard to scroll through. So, when to my surprise, a good friend of mine mentioned that I should take a look b/c of a posting about the eboard and what we are doing regarding benefits and promotions, my interest was peaked.
With that said, I simply would like to state for the record that you sir/madam are sadly mistaken about the true intentions of this board. We have the ultimate responsibility to represent all of you, and I take great offense that you would hide behind your words, and assume such decisions are being made for personal gain. Let me state this very clear....FACT, we have done our best to represent all of you. FACT, we have worked for the betterment of this organizations members. FACT, we have not done anything that can be in anyway associated as deceptive or underhanded. When you insult my hard work to protect the jobs, interests and families of those we represent I take offense. YOU ARE WRONG!
As a fire fighter, civil servant, union member, taxpayer, and resident of this city, all considerations were given to discussions held and their impact to the current membership. At no time...repeat...no time was the word promotion mentioned by any board member during the past discussions with the administration or the past arbitration that was just held. You better think twice about judging the two togeher, b/c you are dead wrong to associate the two. I will stand behind my committment to the job, my education, and my training when it comes to any possible promotions in the future. I think any board member being considered for promotion could and would say the same. To insult all the hard work and time we have spent trying to come to an agreement with our members interests, and the city's concerns in check, proves to me that you don't understand the total picture of our professional employment, our union, our city, or the demands set forth by the current economic times we all are facing and the consequences and difficulties that are to follow in the coming months and years. If you had a pair you would tell me yourself about this concern face to face, at work, or during a meeting. I will, and this board will ALWAYS listen to the concerns of our fellow brothers and sisters. Come talk to us, or stand behind your words when you allow the entire world to see what you post. Instead of being a coward, come offer a possible solution. Instead of being ignorant to the facts, show me the committment that you can provide to this organization. Prove to me that you aren't as ignorant as your posting makes you out to be....prove me wrong.
