>Mark,

I'm game....here goes. Perhaps the only useful babble that came from "huh's" post was his first words. "Thank you."

I am suprised that any self proclaimed veteran can still be confused as to "why we are there." It takes nothing more than a politically ignorant baboon like myself to understand that we are in Iraq and other theaters for one main reason. AND WMD's IS NOT IT! It amazes me that we are still hooked on this debate of WMD and our decision to invade Iraq on the suspicion that Saddam had them, to me the whole conversation is petty. Perhaps, "huh" is watching the same TV that I am...too bad for us.

Let's not forget WE WERE ATTACKED, was it the doing of Iraq? Probably not, but when we set out to combat idiots with bombs on their backs we committed to hold anyone accountable for offering safe haven to these cowards. Hands down there is no one that will deny Saddam's regime had direct involvment with training, directing, and harboring terrorist activity. WMD would be a bonus in my book but I am sure that the Ace of Spades was not a depiction of enriched uranium, and I am sure that if we were "oil hungry" Iraq would not be a priority.

It seems to me that the only viable reason "that we are there" remains relevant to the declaration of War on that day we somehow forget the pain we endured and the possibility that if not addressed could happen again. Let's even go as far as to form a commission to investigate whether we knew about an attack on 9/11...S**t its too bad we can't ask for Nostradamus to take the stand..

Further more I am disgusted by a challenge to "take up arms" at your local recruiter and march the "long trail" from Kuwait to Iraq. All I have to ask is "Huh?" You are seriously disillusioned if you think that are troops are over there saying "oh crap, what am I doing here." "I'd rather be sipping margaritas and holding hands with the girl next door." You were correct when you said "I know a little about..."

I am 26 years old and trust me you fool. I HAVE taken that trip to the recruiter, I committed 2 years of my friggin life BEGGING to be a Marine- I woke up every morning before school to go to PT with the local recruiter and had the privelage to meet some of the most driven individuals in my life. I was dissapointed with my trip to MEPS because they denied my eligibility for the Branch because of a knee operation I had had when I was 8, and borderline asthma. And you know what? Bill Clinton was in office, and if you want me to say that only democratic supporters enlist, well not from me!! I wanted to be a part of something PATRIOTIC, I grew up with people that took there hat off and were proud when they saw the flag. It stood for something to them, and they too had served. And to the best of my knowledge they raised their hand just as I did and ALL of our soldiers have that serve in Iraq. So, since I have already met your silly challenge, I give you one...Take a bus (comfy one if you like, "snug" is better)get off in New York city, and march your ass over to the "former" World Trade Center site. Then come back tell me how you felt and whether you think that we should be in Iraq?

So yes, "Thank you Mark" for reminding me how important a reason that we are in Iraq. Feel free to email me!
