Midlothian: Another Ennis?

Is Midlothian High School becoming another Ennis?

We all know the story: two [recent] state championships. A string of suicides, manslaughter, altercations and fights after football games.

But do Midlothian residents, the business and education establishment, and the beloved Panthers football backers really want what Ennis has?

Sure, winning is great, but it's not the only thing.

Do we really want the problems associated with "Football Is King?" Judging by the flare-up over the recent MHS football situation, I think we have caught the Ennis Syndrome (my phrase).

People, we must stop this before it's too late.

Sam Harrell won't be at Ennis forever, but the problems will still remain, and spread to other places if we aren't careful (i.e., Italy, Midlothian).

I love my Panthers more than anything, but doing what's right isn't always popular. Giving people the cold hard truth is never the expedient thing to do, but it's the right thing to do.

If you're like me -- a fan, graduate, concerned citizen -- then you'll help stop this Ennis Syndrome before it becomes too big.
