Subject: He definitely knows how to amuse the ladies -- they must have been cracking up when he gave the barfy, poopy baby a solemn "your servant, sir." I do think he's better with older children -- like young Geneva with her questions, or his nephews with their toy swords -- than with infants. He is delightful here, of course, but one doesn't sense that he feels an emotional connection to the babe (yet). He is charming to the women, but I sense that he is playing a role here a bit, while inside he is sorting out his thoughts and feelings about Geneva, Jamie's role with regard to the child, etc. He is still withholding judgment, and commitment, while he assesses the situation. He's very good at that! Yes, I can see Isobel thinking he is 'dreamy' but her perspective on John, and on their marriage, remains an unexplored area since we don't get very much of her story.
In reply to: Jane 's message, "First Willie vomits on Lord John, then the poop! Loved the "sentiment is mutual" comment, I'm sure said with a smile, before the polite bow before the formal leave taking. No wonder Isobel was in love with John, I sure am!" on 19:30:28 03/11/08 Tue
