"and yet"....Sigh. Poor John, it must be so hard not to be able to act on your feelings because letting them be known was such a dangerous thing. Of course, the tension of the two of them dancing around their feelings is a great literary tool. I for one expect a big payoff for my patience in Scottish Prisoner. I want to see some real fireworks for John and Stephan at some point, even though I expect some heartbreak in there too..since in the end we know they weren't together when John left for Jamaica and then later Virginia. -- LJG Discussion board

- Oh please, NO! I think we are guaranteed bittersweet, but I am sure still hoping for some MAJOR consummation scenes ;-) before it is all over. Just imagine what herself could do with such scenes!   - Because sometimes the hero doesn't get the prize and that's life. She's never pulled a punch and I'd be disappointed if it were contrived. There are a very few places in the books that seem forced and they irritate when I hit them. I expect John and Stephan will write their own story and it may be tragic.     - Agreed! I don't think Diana believes in "happily ever after" endings, no matter how long we've been waiting to see it.
