I don't think LJ knew William was heading for Canada before he started off - he may have gotten a letter from WIlliam stating the intent to go after the fact. It doesn't seem LJ had any direct contact with John Cinnamon - maybe just a letter from the monks stating he had reached his majority and was now making his own way in the world. That would seem rather barren to me - even just a yearly note stating how the boy was fairing but then nothing else once he's left the monastery. -- LJG Discussion board

We don't get anything elsewhere in the books but LJ did ask the priest to send him information LJ tells the priest "I will send an additional five pound each year, if you will advise me once a year of his continued welfare...Send me a lock of hair.
