Subject: I think the same could be said of any of the sex scenes in the OUTLANDER books as well. I get the distinct impression that Diana doesn't believe in showing "sex for the sake of having sex". This was my first exposure to gay erotic fiction as well, and while it's not my thing personally, I agree, what matters is what the *characters* want. I think it's quite revealing that John prefers to be the dominant sexual partner. It reminds me, oddly enough, of Jamie ("If there's flinging and ravishing to be done, I'll be the one to do it" etc) and I found it surprising, somehow, coming from a man of LJ's slight stature.
