Subject: I just started reading Brotherhood, & I noted something I thought could be interesting.

When John is heading for Helwater for Geneva's funeral, he is of course thinking about who else is there (& I had not gotten the impression of the closeness between him & the Dunsaneys--but that's for another day). He is picturing Jamie--the scars on his hand, the pockmark at the corner of his mouth... screech! What pockmark? How is that Claire has never commented on it? She rarely mentions his hand in any detail past their reunion, but I can understand that. She tends to focus on the scar at the base of his throat, etc.
But it is interesting to see what John finds attractive (physically) about Jamie, as compared to Claire. How much of the difference is connected to gender, era, or background? Male/female, 18th/20th century, soldier/ doctor. So far as I have read (just before the funeral & a casual flip-through when I picked it up), Jamie seems to loom more in in John's mind--physically impressive, I mean: tall, strong, etc.--than in Claire's.

Am I making sense or am I just babbling?
