An extraordinary expression of sadness came over his face, but he did not look away from her...(He was looking right at Claire when he says this, indicating that he is being totally honest.)

No...she wanted me. I should have found a way, should have stopped her, but I could not. She wanted to lie with me, I did and she died of it. I am guilty of her death before God, and more guilty becasue I did not love her.

Claire and Jamie are extraordnarily honest with each other (remember-room for secrets, but not lies). He told Claire he did not love her and I never thought for a moment that he did.

I'm sure he feels sadness and guilt over her death, remorse over the action, but not love.

- Wow, the last thing I want to come across as is vehement. I typically run through all the boards just to see what's up. This particular quote & Gwen's comment caught my eye. We've discussed Geneva at length on the other boards. The question was posed as to whether or not Jamie loved Geneva, and based on other readings, I felt that I could offer some answers. I only mentioned about not reading LJG because I could not discuss anything in realtion to his books, just from the Outlander series. I apologize if it came across as vehement.   - Please understand that it is difficult in writing to express tone, I guess. All I wanted ot say is that I was not going to read the LJ series-that's all. I most certainly did not wish to come across as rude about. If someone responded to my comment with something from Brotherhood of the Blade, I would not be able toanswer it, so that's why I mentioned that I didn't read the book. I hear about everyone here who does so many re-reads, and honeslty, I have gotten through only once. I haven't yet finished ABOSAA.         Thanks, Judie for making me feel better. I do keep popping in hoping that no one has taken my words badly. I really can't add anything to these discussions because I have not read the series. However, I did think I could answer Gwen's question. Jamie did state quite to the point to Claire in Voyager that he did not love Geneva. Anyway, I am, as always, most grateful for your kindness :-).         I'm even later than Judie. I saw this thread yesterday, Rollaine. I was going to drop a reply, but I didn't think you'd scroll back by. I enjoyed seeing your comments here and I'm glad that you added them. Count me in with those who didn't hear your words as vehement. I don't think that you needed to have read any of the LJG books to address Gwen's question, and whether you've read them or ever plan to read them has nothing to do with visiting this board.
