Subject: Yes, it reminded me of Jamie's observations in camp before a battle. Grey knows how to balance his authority over the men with humor, and it's nice to see how naturally he leads and inspires loyalty. And I think you are right that he grapples with his own version of "the red thing" -- and, like Jamie, he acknowledges it, referring to himself as a "beast" both sexually and in terms of capacity for violence when it comes down to kill or be killed. I also just like John's dry sense of humor, which is something he and Jamie realized they shared, even back at Ardsmuir. But it will be a while after the events depicted in BOTB before they share witty moments again.
In reply to: Oleander 's message, "This makes me think of Jaimes description of Culloden. How he describes giving in to "the red thing", drunk on the violence and war. This is something that men of arms would understand eh?" on 06:16:36 10/16/07 Tue
