Subject: Gerald is intriguing and must have been quite a man for Benedicta to have been so in love with him. And I agree - chisping is a very good word, makes me look forward to the start of Winter.

  • What is "chisping" and where does the word come from. Google doesn'r recognize it at all. It's about snow, but how exactly? (NT) -- Helka, 05:48:57 10/21/07 Sun

  • Hi Helka, I couldn't find the word chisping on any of my dictionary sites. Could it be based on the sound that snow and frozen ground makes when you walk on them? (NT) -- Jane, 07:58:38 10/21/07 Sun

  • In the first line of that chapter, DG describes chisping as "that ambiguous sort of precipitation, half snow, not quite drizzle." Don't know what the origin is. (NT) -- Lady Jay (), 08:15:06 10/21/07 Sun
