I responded to this below for some reason, but wanted to say, what a great observation Jane. I did think it was odd for Hal to make John look at Hector's body the way he did, made me think perhaps Hal knows a thing or two. In reply to: Jane 's message, "I agree Hal must have known something was up when Hector died and he insisted on having John go look at the body. Then there was the "unfortunate affair of the heart" with George Everett, that got John banished to Ardsmuir.
