.... how *would* I view the passages if Percy had been a woman? And when I thought about it, I found I really wasn't so "happy" with the scenes ---- I think how DG writes sex for Claire & Jamie and the tone in this Lord John story does seem definitely chick-lit-ish in comparison.

Of course, nothng compares to Claire & Jamie!

But I had to keep remembering when I read the story that at this point LJG is close to 30 (yes?); and I guess some of what he was feeling and experiencing came across as much younger, somehow.

- Yes --- you make a lot of sense. And now I can see my thinjking John's inner-musings as somehow more "juvenile" than Claire's or Jamie's isn't really what I meant --- his are more romantical -- and your theory of why DG wrote it that way makes sense to me.
