Subject: I must admit I had a wee bit of trouble with Jamie's lack of even an attempt to understand John's sexuality. I guess we have to keep in mind that their friendship hadn't begun to develop yet. I can't remember if anything was said in The Books as to Jamie's attitude about this when John's attentions weren't aimed at him. But he must have changed his thinking a little in order for them to become friends. I can't imagine Jamie accepting John's raising William if he was still so homophobic.

  • Marilyn, I'm so interested to hear that you read the earlier Lord John novel before you discovered the main Outlander series - - it must have been so different to read the scene where John meets Jamie and Claire, if you already "knew" him as an accomplished officer and gentleman.
