Subject: Loved how DG re-used that imagery later at another important point in the story (when John met his mother and she nearly shot him ). "He set his hand on the doorknob, it was white china, painted with roses, and a pang went through him at the cool slick touch of it on his hand, but there was not time to think of that now." God, I LOVE how that woman writes!
