Subject: It is after that scene that Jamie brings John the note with the clue that leads him to seek out the Irishman. That clue eventually helps John find the truth about his father and clears his family name. Jamie is an honorable man and has the grace to forgive. He knows that John is also an honorable man who just said the wrong thing. I myself will admit to occasionally saying or writing something that unintentionally hurts someone and wishing I hadn't said it the very second I did.
