That clue eventually helps John find the truth about his father and clears his family name. Jamie is an honorable man and has the grace to forgive. He knows that John is also an honorable man who just said the wrong thing. That's the starting point, I agree -- the point from which they begin to rebuild their relationship. What I want to know is, how/when/why do they begin to feel comfortable in one another's presence, able to speak together as friends?
