George..thanks for intiating and pulling people together on this matter..people who are
interested in helping friends please read thru the end(lengthly mail). After reading, your
thoughts are welcome.

What TRV said is correct. but, we can try to overcome those difficulties by making a plan (kind
of hard & fast rules). Its a thought.

its good to think that we are in a position to collectively help friends in need when they're in
real need(we have to discuss on which needs can be helped, since some will indirectly encourage
a person to stay lazy). To make it practical(for the time being) here's a thought that we could
follow for a single time to check if it really works without problems. It can be started as
early as today. yes, its going to be very difficult if we want to make it work. but its fruits
can be sweeter than ever. making it official is the only way everyone can be helped in addition
to individual helps.

1) collect all the email-ids of the persons who're willing to join this movement(each and every
paise/penny is worthwhile). absolutely no rules or obligations on this one.

2) elect a person(treasurer) to accept the responsibility to bring the awareness of a particular
money matter/problem of a person whenever it surfaces.( only the treasurer can out put in a
money request. Yes, we have to keep faith in him, trust him. This could be one of the toughest
jobs to handle. But, there are a lot of capable persons. This position can be rotated on a
period with others)

3) the treasurer will then notify all the friends in the 'willing list' about the particular
problem and the maximum money needed to solve it with a copy to onelist.(anybody can join at any
time).

4) the willing persons then can send whatever they can(again every paise/penny is worthwhile) to
the treasurer with no questions asked.

5) then the money can be forwarded to the person in need. if the money gathered exceeds the
maximum needed to solve that problem that can be retained by the treasurer to use it for the
next need(lets call it as HELP FUND).

6) I assume that everyone is willing to give the money as a help. hence its not expected back.
Why I'm bringing this point is, in some cases the person who got helped may be willing to pay
the money back and in that case it can go to the HELP FUND again which can then be used for the
next need.(or) the whole thing can be made as 'should be re-payed' either to the fund or to the
contributing persons.

7) Since most of us are software professionals(empolyed & unemployed), the guys seeking for a
break in software could join and develop a single user software package for the treasurer to
keep track of the money/expenditure. This will provide vital experience to the guys seeking
jobs.

8) when the treasurer himself is the person in need, then an assistant will fill in.

9) most important thing is to deicde which needs can be helped and which takes priority over
other needs. Absolutely no mis understandings or hard feelings on this one, whatsoever. This
should be outlined and defined very clearly. And the need is not limited to money, it can be
practically anything throughout our whole life(helping to find jobs, apts, moving, medical
assistance, sending things to India, hosting get togethers, helping friends' own kids etc
etc...). For the time being it can serve only emergency needs.

10)If a need cannot be serviced due to the decisions made in step(9) then the
personal/individual/one-to-one helps can do better.

11) if this kinda process gets going and established, and if the FUND gets thicker we can even
help ourselves to start small businesses elsewhere(no joke).

"LETS HELP EACH OTHER FOR A BETTER CAUSE"

Anybody having any plans just bring forward. one or the other might work. lets give it a try.
George,TRV and others keep posting your ideas guys.
