Subject: using dawn dishsoap on your hair

One of my good friends uses dawn dish soap on her hair to remove hair color and she recommends me using it to repair split ends is this a good idea? i really seen it work with applying it before you reconstruct a bad hair color, but ive never seen it work for split ends. is this true or is she just misunderstood.
