Subject: Relaxed Hair, can I color?

Help!!! I had my hair chemically straightened about a month ago, it looks really straight which I am happy with. There is only one problem, I had colored it about two weeks before I had it straightened and now it desperetly needs to be recolored, is it safe to do this? The relaxing process really dried out my hair and I had mega split ends and breakage, my husband swears all my hair will fall out one day, but as I say we all have to suffer some for beauty right? HELP!!!
