peeps: probably not to hard, if not a bit seasonal.
noose: easy. one of the wacky things I learned when I was a lad as a boy scout (yes, I was once a boy scout. That's a fun story itself)
goggles: I used to have a pair of honest welding goggles. Stole 'em from my high school shop class. Alas, the rubber headstrap eventually got old and dried out (leading to much crackage, as well as eventually breaking), so one of these days I'm going to wander down to ye olde welding supply shop (or at least home improvement store) and pick up a new pair. The one thing that I'd probably use to replace the nearly ten-year-old pair of sunglasses that adorn the top of my head in so many regular images. No, I won't purchase anything from the local counter-culture boutique (and yes, I still have a few options beyond hot topic.) If I get a new set, they sure as hell have to be real. Cheaper and sturdier.

And yes, if I go this route, I'd wear them to work, even with my white-collar desk job. The ex-girl bought me a pair of overpriced ray-bans way back when, and I never quite told her the reason I rarely wore them was because they never felt comfortable when I wore them on top of my head.

A little background knowledge: I've got some weird dents in my skull. I call one of them "the great rift". The metal-framed sunglasses that I've worn for so long feel pretty natural, whether over my eyes or up on the top of my head.

Said pricey ray-bans, with their plastic frames, never had any give to them, and would always be trying to work themselves down.

Explaining this to the ex-girl wouldn't have mattered anyway. She used to complain when I'd wear either after sunset. Hard to explain to a person that there's nothing wrong with wearing sunglasses at night if they aren't actually over your eyes.

But hey, I've never claimed to be a fashion maven*

*the truth is, I've come to think that one of the issues ex-girl had with me was that I was never going to be metrosexual. I buy my jeans from wal-mart, because they're cheap and they fit reasonably comfortably. I'd totally buy a comfortable pair of pants for 15 bones than buy something stylish (and of unknown comfort) for 80-200 bucks. Fuck that noise**

** Of course, this might be the reason why I'm not a chick magnet, living in southern california. I think I really don't care. If the price of entry is to shell out ridiculous sums for bullshit that degrades by way of fashion far faster than materials, I'll take the unfashionable angle and go for the industrious solution***

*** Please, stop me before I rant more.
