Basically, the person who I'd been working for for 8 months never actually thought that meant she was my supervisor, which basically left me high and dry at the school with no funding and back to square one in terms of progress.

So, I'm converting it to a MSc and walking away quietly - though I may have been able to go to war, you can never force someone to be your supervisor and had I failed I would basically be blackballed from any future grad school career. If the drive strikes me, well, I'll return later I guess, hopefully fantastically rich off the startup I'm in raking in gobs of money...

...okay, so that's not going to happen, but I can dream a little.
