SUV's SUCK!!!

You are right on! I live in Detroit and have to put up with countless SUV-driving road hogs on my daily commute. To make matters worse, I drive a VW Jetta. It seems that many SUV drivers are so bent on having a big American car that they feel the need to pass me even though I have been on cruise control and passed them. In Detroit many people just do not like foreign cars. I once overheard someone say, "I just wish I had a reason to ram into that foreign plastic car". Here's the deal... the big 3 needs to realize that they will not be successful until they ditch the UAW and join the rest of the automotive world. Sorry... but it's the truth. Toyota and other companies are taking over and GM and Ford need to realize that they are on the downward slope until they can create cars that are safe, fuel efficient, and reliable. Let's face it, American cars are crap. I worked at Mercedes US as a consultant and quickly learned that the Mercedes people hated the Daimler-Chrysler ownership because of quality problems. America NEEDS to take notice of the Asian and European automotive manufacturers. I live in Detroit and my city is AT ITS KNEES because of the downfall of American auto companies. Poor corporate leadership, reliance on SUV sales, poor design/quality, and most importantly -> UNION COSTS have affected American autos and have killed Michigan cities. Look at Flint, Michigan... It used to be prosperous, now you should not go there without a bullet-proof vest. Ford just introduced their new crossover "Edge". Jeeeeez... Why didn't they introduce a hybrid or fuel efficient car? Honda hybrids have been selling above sticker price for almost 2 years. They had the right idea with the Fusion, the 500 is a stretch... Here is what Ford needs to do... 1: Sever all UAW ties. I know that's tough, but guess what, they're almost bankrupt and UAW is the cause. 2: Focus on quality mid-size and compact cars as well as F series pickups. Scrap everything else. The Explorer was the cash cow for years, but look at the books... those times are gone. I just want Detroit to not wither away like Flint did... from what I see... it may be too late.

OK. I'm done ranting.
