CRAZY title for an article. Misleading too..
" Mark, most successful runner-up!" Now that
sounds better. And doesn't piss teachers off.

THE poor boy from Cagayan de Oro who came to Manila for the semi-
finals of Star for a Night in Manila on a cargo ship since he could
not afford the fare two years ago is going through a week-long
celebration of his birthday (August 10). Mark Bautista is a celebrity
on his own right.
On his birthday, he had his celebration with friends and fans at
Kowloon House at West Avenue, Quezon City. The night before he with
some friends and few relatives was at Café Juanita. The day before,
he was in Sibonga, Cebu where he had a show with Anne Curtis.
Last Friday (August 12), Viva threw a birthday-lunch for him with the
entertainment press.
And to cap a full birthday week, a trip to Australia on Tuesday,
August 16 for a show in Sydney on August 19 and in Melbourne on
August 21. He will be with Rachelle Ann Go, Frenchie Dy and Raymond
Manalo.
Mark and the group will be back on August 22 to mind his weekly TV
shows, ASAP and Search for a Star in Million which he co-hosts.
He will prepare himself for his next trip, this time with Sarah
Geronimo in September.

Mark who had to stop his architectural studies back home since his
family could not afford it has emerged as "a most successful loser".
Two years ago, he was runner-up in the Star for a Night singing
competition on TV, losing out to then 15-year-old Sarah Geronimo. As
Viva artist, Mark has fulfilled many of his dreams and within just a
few months, life has changed.
From the tryouts for Star for a Night in Zamboanga City that he went
through, more doors started opening to him. And now, he is amused
that he is one of the hosts of the TV show Search for the Star in a
Million.
As if life has made a full circle with his hosting job in ABS-CBN
music star search: "Dinaanan ko na ito. Kung hindi ako naging
successful that first time, baka nanduon pa rin ako ngayon nag-o-
audition. Thankful talaga ako sa lahat ng tumutulong sa akin. Laki ng
pasalamat ko sa Viva, sa ABS-CBN, sa mga kasama ko saka sa mga fans
na tumanggap sa akin at hanggang ngayon ay nandiyan pa rin at
sumusuporta."
Right now while his second album is being readied, Mark marks his
birthday week too with the release of a CD-Lite, Dream On. The album
is made up of five cuts.
Aside from Dream On and I Need You, it carries three songs produced
by the Grammy-winning and the Academy Award-nominated producer
Christian de Walden.
You seem Mark recorded these songs at the famous ZigZag Recording
Studios in Los Angeles the last time he was there. The songs are You
Win The Game, And By Now and a cover of When Will I See You Again.
Indeed, Mark Bautista has gone a long way and his family too. His
father who went with him to San Francisco for the ASAP show last July
23 is still there - staying at relatives in the East Coast for a
while.
