Cason Scores Team High 18 Points As Lady Vikings Experience First Losing Streak

HENDERSON, Tenn....Cori Cason led Berry College with 18 points, but the Lady Vikings were defeated 74-65 by Freed-Hardeman in the TranSouth Athletic Conference opener for both teams in Henderson, Tenn., Thursday.  The loss gave Berry back-to-back setbacks for the first time this season.

Berry (14-3, 0-1) received 12 points from Britney Wetherington and 10 points each from Deana Duncan and Christy Manning.  Duncan also hauled in 10 boards.

The game matched up two of the top teams in the NAIA.  Freed-Hardeman (13-2, 1-0) entered the game ranked eighth in the nation, while the Lady Vikings own a No. 14 national ranking.

Berry head coach Jim Izard remains one win shy of 400 for his career.  Berry, which fell in its last game to Cornerstone (Mich.) University 60-51 on Dec. 30, will make its third attempt to get Izard his milestone victory when it returns to action Saturday at Blue Mountain College.
