She puts it in the small pan sitting on the stove and begins heating it. In the process, she adds a little more of the conents of her little vial that hangs from her neck. She stands with the child, blanket and all, still sobbing softly-- but in relief now. Whoever pulled Ri out of the water would have to be found as soon as possible. The soup heats quickly, and soon little wisps of steam emit from the little pan. She pours some of the liquid into a bowl and goes back to the sofa with it, still holding the child in one arm somhow. She now lets go of her a little, but does not let Ri leave her lap.
