Each phase has certain standards. For PT it depends on age and sex (there is a large chart for that, but the Army PT test is # of push ups and sit ups in 2 minutes. 2-mile run in so many minutes.

For pistol qualification is an 80% score on the Special Operations Center (US ARMY SPECIAL FORCES) Pistol Qualification Course. Example is 1st String, 25 years, two shots to the body standing and 2 shots to the body kneeling within 9 seconds. Or moving from 10 yards to 3 yards, 2 shots to each body, speed reload and a single shot to each brain. ON and ON. We have adapted tough standards for each phase.

The purpose of this is two-fold. First, to get our middle aged counterparts in shape physically and mentally as well as with basic outdoor skills. Think of Oriental Martial Arts. You practice fighting not to fight, but to improve the mind, body and soul.

The second purpose is to set some apart from others. If you pass this course, then you are an Advanced Expeditioner, meaning you can lead the team. Then comes Master Expeditioner, then Master Chief Expeditioner.

Beyond that, you actually have to be in the course to know more about it. It is esentially a secret, but individuals who can do 12 pushups and run a quarter of a mile, have basic marksmanship skills, and basic outdoors skills, can join the fun ,if they so desire.

Any other questions?

>Yeah, makes sense. I see the phases on the site,
>but how do you qualify for each phase, how many situps
>in what time frame, how many push ups, time frame?
>For example marching? Strictly by distance or are
>there any special things to know when you march,
>Can I just march like in marching band (TeeHee!)
>
>Can any of us do it? Does this course give you some
>type of certification or is it just for getting in
>shape for the Slate Islands rendezvous?
>
>The Slate Islands looks like a great trip! That area
>is filled with history! Wow!
