Date Posted: 12:29:03 03/30/05 Wed In reply to: Pathfinder 's message, "Re: The Death Paddle" on 20:33:41 03/29/05 Tue Years of negotiating for hockey tickets outside arenas prepared me for this deal: 2 yr old Valley Skerry (17 ft) rotomold AND a rolling class for $700 cash. BTW I scored my ticket to the NCAA regional finals last weekend for $12, cha ching. After being *thoroughly* treated like trash by the jokers over at Bill & Paul's (just give me a beer and get me started on THAT one...) I located a used sea kayak over in Brighton. It belonged to Ron at Black Parrot paddling. He had 2 Valley Skerry's to unload and was asking $900 (price posted online), but the boats weren't selling. I went over and test paddled it to make sure it floated. It did and I drove away w/ the boat and a rolling class for $700. Cha ching. Also, after searching for months for a drysuit solution I picked up a breathable drycoat from Sierra Trading Post for $150. For bottoms I may just put a belt on my breathable fishing waders, cut the suspenders off and roll the top of the waders together w/ the inner tunnel of the jacket. I figure that's exactly what those snazzy $300 kokatat dry bibs do, only with an extra flap of fabric. An $800 problem - my $150 answer. THIS WEEKEND - We'll see. It's supposed to snow & rain on Saturday, and then be less crappy on Sunday. I'll keep you posted. I wouldn't mind hitting the Rogue or the Grand. Lake Michigan at Holland or Muskegon if my drytop comes. And if Wapiti (or anyone else) is interested in fishing... The big boys are being caught @ muskegon piers. As soon as the ice clears out of Traverse Bay I'm going to be jigging for salmonids. My new fish finder came yesterday ($12 after cashing in my cabelas credit card points).
