Date Posted: 00:10:21 07/26/04 Mon Hey everyone, For those of you coming to the Adventure Marathon, here is our planning in the works. Suggestions, those backing out, anything else, please communicate with me. Otherwise, here is where we are. The following schedule (tentative pending your ideas): A map of the route is on the main page, center, usually where the picture of the week goes. 6am Bill and I will drop a vehicle off at the 40th Street Trailhead (hopefully Mike Miller’s and Derrin Leigh’s, I asked by e-mail should know in a day or so) and one at Croton with trailer Bill’s) to secure kayaks and canoes. We will thrown some tents and lanterns in either Bill’s or Mike’s Suburban for the campout. 8am The whole team will meet at Morley “Park” in Cedar Springs. Papa can meet us at Morley Park and secure my trailer on his vehicle. We will load the canoes and excess gear in a trailer that Papa will take to Morley, Michigan. IF you have extra gear for the campout (ie tent, sleeping bag, etc., you will need to secure it in your watercraft or carry it on the bike. Link below for map with Morley “Park” in Cedar Springs (Morley, Michigan is the town not the park). http://tinyurl.com/5ocep Begin biking at 8:10. The distance is a little over 20 miles. We expect to travel this distance at a speed of around 8-10 miles per hour. Arrive in Morley Michigan at approximately 10:10-10:30 am. Here we will load the bikes and off load the kayaks and canoes. Papa will stand by and participate in the ropework (which should take an hour). Papa will then secure the ropework gear and the trailer load of bikes and return them to my father’s (Nile) house. At this point, Papa can take off as he has been a huge help and his work there is complete. We will arrive in Croton, Michigan at approximately 4:30-6:30 pm. We will secure the yaks and canoes in Bill’s trailer (extra campout gear will be put in Bill’s Jeep unless you want to hike with it.) and then hike to 40th Street Trailhead. We should arrive around 9pm to 10:30 pm. There, we will load up in the Suburban, drive to the campsite, drop the team off (except Bill and Mike) for a campout then Bill and Mike will ride to Croton, pick up Bill’s Jeep and trailer. Return to the national forest land to camp for the evening. Rise the next morning have breakfast and head out. Then to my father’s house, to pick up my trailer (with the suburban) and return to Morley Park. Then go home. This can be totally different, depending on how flexible papa is, etc, etc, etc. If you have ideas, please let me know. So far, here is who has RSVP’d. Wapiti Luce Vic Carl (may not be able to make it) Mike Miller Derrin Leigh Government Lynne Durham Mike LaFontaine (Professor from Ferris) Me (I have know idea if Costello or Red Squirrel are coming, if there are, they can help with the details and support.) Could one of you guys call them today and find out if they are going (I don’t have their number)? Hauenstein (maybe). Derrin and Mike are bringing kayaks, Vic is brining a Canoe (will need to confirm this), Bill is bringing a canoe. I will get Brian’s Canoes and bring my yak (in case we have an odd number), that is a boat capacity of 11 people. Should be enough, eh? If anybody else RSVP’s, then they need a yak or canoe. If you have any ideas, know of anyone else who is going or have comments, please let me know. So far, this is the rough draft of our plan, we just need to refine it. Yeah, eh? Lots of info, get back to me. Yeah, eh? Chuck Hayden Pathfinder Fortune Bay Expeditionary Team [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
