Date Posted: 00:40:23 07/26/04 Mon YO, First, there is an animated map of the Adventure Marathon Route on the main page of the website, where the picture of the week usually is. Skip the intro and you’re their click below. http://www.fortunebaycompany.com We will meet at Morley PARK in Cedar Springs, Michigan (not in the town of Morley Michigan) on Saturday Morning July 31st at 0750 hours SHARP. If you will be late call me at (616) 437-0334. Click Below for a map of Morley PARK in Cedar Springs. http://tinyurl.com/5ocep This may blow some of you away, but I have put together a list of (essential) things to bring. -$10, this is to cover the cost to the team for this endeavor, cash or check, the morning of the event. Give to Papa. -Mountain Bike (in good condition, check it out) -Repair equipment for your bike. If you break down, your out of luck. -Helmet for biking. -Water (lot’s of it) -Extra water or water purifying equipment (I have no idea if there is potable water on the route. You can leave gallons of water in your canoe or yak, but don’t carry gallons. The water is easy to carry in the canoe, and you can leave it in the canoe when you begin the hike) -Tent or sleeping shelter for overnight camping (left in canoe then secured in Jeep at Croton.) -Sleeping bag (left in canoe then secured in Jeep at Croton.) -Food (the on the go type, to carry with you, the average person will burn about 4,500-5,500 calories on this trip) (if you’re my size try 7,500) -Lightweight dayback -Class III PFD (life jacket, left with the canoe) -Two pair of shoes or three (one to bike and hike, but a separate pair to paddle with, you will probably get your feet wet and you don’t want to hike 10 miles with wet feet) -Extra Socks in a waterproof bag. -Spare change of clothing (left in canoe then secured in Jeep at Croton.) -Paracord or other lashing line to secure equipment in the canoe, etc.) -waterproof bag that your backpack will fit in, for the paddle, it will be rough. -compass, lightweight -matches or lighter -knife (preferable a sharp one) -headlamp (or flashlight, but a headlamp is recommended as we may be traveling in the dark) -rain gear (the type you can bike with, paddle with and hike with) -lightweight jacket -bug dope or whatever you use to keep the annoying buzzing things at bay) -water -headgear (if your so inclined) -lock for your bike (they will be in a secure location, but we will lock them together just in case) (left with your bike) -water -rock climbing harness (or you will be stuck with a swiss seat) (left in canoe then secured in Jeep at Croton.) -map of the area (whatever you can come up with. We won’t make anyone navigate, but you may want to know where you are) -any medication you may need (also, inform me if you have a condition) -cigars (if you’re so inclined) -whiskey (if you’re stomach is lead lined like mine) -whatever else you need. What I have listed will get you by, but you may have things that keep you comfortable. -bring a good night’s sleep and good physical condition, you may need it. I follow the four wise men for my gear. . . Food Water Shelter Clothing MAKE SURE YOUR GEAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, A BREAKDOWN WILL MEAN WE ALL HAVE TO WAIT. (Watch my mountain bike blow its bearings now…) We will probably be moving for 13 straight hours. If you have questions, then shoot me an e-mail Otherwise, this will be a great time, eh. I look forward to it and hope you’re in pretty good shape;) See you there!!!
