Date Posted: 23:11:31 08/08/04 Sun In reply to: pathfinder 's message, "Re: Agawa Canyon Finalizing Plans" on 22:46:30 08/08/04 Sun I'm not so worried about physical shape. But this is good info to have. I'm sure sometime I'll want to hike this trail. But I'm not in a hurry either. I don't mind ascents, even steep ones, but descents are a trial. Far more so for me than you. Things to think about. Still, with just overnight gear my load would be puny (pack would be the heaviest, unless I bring a different one). As I say, things to think about. If this trail is really that steep do people wear crampons of any sort? >Much more rocky, rooted, and steeper. It is probably >the toughest developed trail I have hiked. Even >tougher than the famed trains in the Darien Gap, >Central America. There will be plenty of hard hikes. >You should be in shape to hike this trail (well, you >should be in shape for this exploration). > >The trail is steep enough that you will be crawling up >the trail with with your hands digging in just to make >slow progress. Then you have to descend near rappels >in a crab walk fashion. This happens over and over >again for 4-5 miles. Then all you have are Appalacian >Trail style hills for 2 more.
