 The director of trail development of the North Country Trail talked to me the other day about an joint promotional expedition of the North Country Trail in the UP. I mentioned our idea about a ghost town and he was vary interested. He mentioned a friend who was on the Keewanaw Pennisula and had a few days to kill, so he did some explore.

One day while rounding over a hill, he was overlooking Lake Superior and an abandoned smelting town. He said it was a surreal scene. The buildings with a forest growing up through the town, and the smelting stacks with trees growing through them with Lake Superior as a background.

How Cool!!!

But we need an expedition leader. No experience necessary, we will train you. If you have experience - Great!! We need you. All you really need is an good interest.

Responsible for:

Research (A fun part)
Planning and Preparation (Another fun Part)
Teaching and Expedition Skills Class related to the Expedition (with help)
Organizing the Team (pretty easy they are usually trained personnel)
Planning a route (We can supply the mapping resources)
Executing (You assign tasks to capable team members)
Full Support of Club resources and experts (which can be vast)

This is a great opportunity and will be great experience.

It really won't be a lot of work, think about planning a trip for yourself, and having some people come along with you. We have people to take care of the details.
