Brian,

Welcome to the team!!!

We are about 120 members with about 20 die hards. We are only about 4 years old, but opened up to the public a little over a year ago. Our goal is to have a great time and do things that most don't do.

I encourage you to come to the West Michigan River Trip to meet some of the guys and gals. We are looking for some new die hards. I live in Lowell, but you would be the first official die hard in Lansing. We have about 10 public members who haven't been very involved from Lansing.

We are currently putting together membership stuff, but as a public member, you are free to join most activities. For expeditions, you need to be a general member (which is $5 per year and completing an information form and signing a general liability waiver). We don't have regular meetings and we communicate mostly over the internet, then there are the adventures to attend. That's about it, until Associate Membership, with is someone who completes a curriculum of about 6 classes. Then you are ready for Expedition Leader or Staff Duties (Expedition Pathfinder, Mission Specialist, Sweeper, Instructor, Team Leader, etc.), past experience can also qualify you for these positions.

Because we are so young (the team), your involvement depends on how often you keep in touch. As a member, you are welcome to organize outings, etc.

Other than that, welcome, and I look forward to meeting you.

Chuck Hayden
Commanding Expedition Officer
The Fortune Bay Expeditionary Team
