M& N were ambushed and they really had no way to escape other than to surrender ... as they did when surrounded in the eppy FLYF on which I based that particular scene. I�m sure that it was Michael�s intention to escape with Nikita but the flawed Intel from Section placed them both in a precarious position ... thus surrendering was the better option rather than their immediate death.

As for Michael breaking ... I hope that this chapter will explain why he did that. There is no way known that he would capitulate unless he thought it was warranted.

However, I�m glad that you were surprised. I�m sure there will be some more surprises in the next few chapter s too that you may not have anticipated.
