For Advertising & Marketing :
WAH! The truth is I was only kind enough to ask the girl to go for lunch first because we are closed... But in any case, she came back to my counter after lunch... what does it show? ha ha....
OK, here's my version for the tabloid. (Must revenge... ha ha...)
1. Gayyong was commented to be always with a "buay gam wan" (not-willing) face when on duty during the recent NUS Commencement. He has been encouraged to smile more and be more cheerful.
2. Gay ge nearly got into fight with a medical officer when the MO refused to show him the invitation card during NUS Commencement. Fortunately, a security officer came in.
3. Yiyang is still trying to show off his various magic tricks at every opprtunity he had. Just remember not to borrow him any ten-dollar note which he will try to "tear" it and then really tore it.
4. Mr Koh was paraded around Bukit Timah behind his father's van one night when curious motorists look into the van and laughed at him - epecially when he is face to face with the driver of the car behind the van.
5. Koh Gay Yong was hurt when Jiawei - and not him - was said to be the most good looking guy among all the NUS Commencement helpers.
6. Sanmao was angry when someone commented that he looks like Vaness Wu. He hmself - with his new hairstyle - thinks he looks more like the Korean star, Won Bin from the movie BROTHERHOOD.
7. Xu Yiyang expresses his interest to learn Tai Ji Quan from clowny beng sianghui who is himself still a beginner.
8. Our class rep who dropped chemistry in JC suddenly became interested in Chemistry and manage to psycho people (including sianghui, marvina and jiawei) to take a Chemistry module in the coming semester.
9. Big Eater Koh was expecting a big serving of chicken for dinner when what he gets is only two small miserable pieces of meat on a big plate.
10. When gayge was admiring his own triceps during dinner one night and was caught by jiawei, he quickly defended himself saying he was scratching becasue an ant just bit him.
Again, feel free to dispute any of the above or add on to the list.

Hey everyone!!!
I am still surprised that the msg poard is still here.
It is cool.
I was wondering what everyone is up to nowadays.
Haven't seen anyone of you for at least 3 years.
What is everyone up to nowadays since we are all adults now?
Driving: CTE from city - exit yio cu kang road, then make a left turn and you can see the condo on the left hand side. just tell security blk 51 #04-05 at the guardhouse.
Non: Eh.....70 from yck bus interchange..ard 5/6 bus stops away. Alight at stop before it crosses under the CTE flyover. You'll see the cottagey looking condo on the right hand side. Proceed to the small front gate then can call me.
Yep i stay at Blk 51 Sunrise Gardens unit #04-05. Its very near to Amoy Quee Camp along Yio Chu Kang Road. Anyone who doesnt know how to come can call me on my HP at 97951839.
Hello ppl, we shall meet on 6 aug 2005 at jiawei's place. He stays at sunrise gardens, along yio chu kang road (very near CTE flyover). Say we'll be there at abt 1830 hrs.
Hi all, an earlier post somewhere below stated 5 years already. It should be the board's 6th anniversary (inclusive of our old home) and into its 7th year running...
Tmrw exam. 1st paper. Good luck to everyone still taking exams... =)
of course after finding this msg board again reminds me of the days long past and i think it is great that we can still sort of keep up with each other and have a little jest and fun
well it seems that everyone is having fun and doing great
i am glad to hear
i am just procrastinating .....
so i think i have to go now to get some work done
anyone planning to come to the east coast anytime soon?
call me up
Helloooo it has been a long time since JC days and haven met some of our classmates since then...At least we still have this message board to keep in contact, thanks to Gayge! How is everybody? Me entering the 2nd year of working life..hectic and buzzing around everyday, sometimes dunno what we want in life..it has all become so routine that every Monday you start pinning on weekends..anyway hope everyone is fine and getting on well with their lives
! Cherish everyday, life is short so live everyday to the fullest!!

Hi all! How's everyone?! I lost my handphone...so lost all your numbers =(
I'm currently working as designer liao...quite lucky to find a job in my field =) Really count the weekends now...
Anyway, a tip for all... If u take leave on 12th nov(Friday), u get 5 STRAIGHT DAYS OF HOLIDAYS!!! Cos thursday is some holiday... monday is another holiday... so super weekend, yay!!
Wah laoz, 1 single entry has invited 1 whole essay... Haha now u all know who u cannot afford to offend.
As Mulder & Scully always believe, the truth is out there!! Anyway, I am expected to reply with my version of the stories so here it is, as follows:
1. Gayyong was commented to be always with a "buay gam
>wan" (not-willing) face when on duty during the recent
>NUS Commencement. He has been encouraged to smile more
>and be more cheerful.
Black face? It's early in the morning 8am when we reported for work... And of coz when no one approached the info counter smiling for no reason doesn't make myself look any smarter. That's besides the point that we were in full black.
2. Gay ge nearly got into fight with a medical officer
>when the MO refused to show him the invitation card
>during NUS Commencement. Fortunately, a security
>officer came in.
Wrong. The security wasn't in the picture at all. I was only complaining to my colleages abt the attitute cocky green man. I fear for the nation as the green pea captain simply did not realise the importance of national security. For the others who refused to comply, I engaged the assistance of the security. Fighting spirit was never on my mind for I didn't want others to get hurt. Amitabha.
3. Yiyang is still trying to show off his various
>magic tricks at every opprtunity he had. Just remember
>not to borrow him any ten-dollar note which he will
>try to "tear" it and then really tore it.
You mean lend.
4. Mr Koh was paraded around Bukit Timah behind his
>father's van one night when curious motorists look
>into the van and laughed at him - epecially when he is
>face to face with the driver of the car behind the van.
Coz I let my buddy sianghui take the front seat.
5. Koh Gay Yong was hurt when Jiawei - and not him -
>was said to be the most good looking guy among all the
>NUS Commencement helpers.
Haha. I was happy to be No.2.
6. Sanmao was angry when someone commented that he
>looks like Vaness Wu. He hmself - with his new
>hairstyle - thinks he looks more like the Korean star,
>Won Bin from the movie BROTHERHOOD.
Yeah... It's abt time I leave the F4.
7. Xu Yiyang expresses his interest to learn Tai Ji
>Quan from clowny beng sianghui who is himself still a
>beginner.
I'm a fan of Zhang San Feng u know?
8. Our class rep who dropped chemistry in JC suddenly
>became interested in Chemistry and manage to psycho
>people (including sianghui, marvina and jiawei) to
>take a Chemistry module in the coming semester.
The module has a rating of 4.2 out of 5 (1 of the highest among all modules) and perceived difficulty of 2.4 out of 5 (1 of the lowest among all modules). If u were me, would u not be tempted to take it?
9. Big Eater Koh was expecting a big serving of
>chicken for dinner when what he gets is only two small
>miserable pieces of meat on a big plate.
Yesh, the name of the dish was Chicken Cordon Bleu... which reminded me of one of the all time favourite Martell "Lam Dua". Lots of description on the dish... I admit I was deceived. (ChinaJump)
10. When gayge was admiring his own triceps during
>dinner one night and was caught by jiawei, he quickly
>defended himself saying he was scratching becasue an
>ant just bit him.
I felt the itch on my upper arm. I rolled up my sleeve in disbelief as I had indeed suffered a mosquito sting in the restaurant. But I AM somewhat a narcissistic. Haha. If I were reallie admiring my bod I wouldn't deny at all. Haha.
Again, feel free to dispute any of the above or add on
to the list.
Haha. Yeah, shall add on. Someone fr our class was caught ogling at our fellow classmate, Meiru aka Molly!! Oooh scandalous!
Yesh, feel free to dispute any of the above or add on.
The girls have all gratuated, having endured the excruciating university life. Congrats! *Balloons*
As they enter the next page of their lives, let's not forget that we were once so disgustingly grey from the top to bottom. Haha. Yesh we are still the same fun-loving NJC 98S16.
Some news & rumours to update the board. 1 more, 2 more, 3 more and more & more!
1. Happy belated birthday to Jiawei & Qinran.
2. DJ Ryan spinned his way to the Kronos DJ Championship! Tsezum tsezum! Qianhuai in the house!
3. Chiam is alleged to have harassed Marvin's highly-rated girlfriend during the SOC camp.
4. Thiam Seng is coming NUS Biz Ad. Yesh, he's not out with Lenin this time.
5. Sianghui tried to jio (a) girl(s) in his course of duty at the recent matriculation... (but failed...oops.)
6. Jia "the yandao" Wei was chosen as the undisputed most handsome student helper during the NUS commencement by the management.
7. Koh Shujun, our former classmate during the JC 1st 3 months, could not recognise fellow OGmate-cum-classmate Jiawei and rejected his request to pose for a picture together during her convo.
8. Zihao has a (new) girlfriend. (Old news? But do u know?)
9. LSL got drunk and leopard-crawled her way out of Zouk.
10. One of the girls from our class was recruited as a part-time model.
Feel free to dispute or add on the list. Smilez. =)
But gay yong also looks like Vaness Wu... Maybe all three of them can take part in the Monday Jack Neo show together, then we can have a class gathering to support them...
havent been here for a long time... its pretty deserted huh? sigh... eh but dun end this board leh....its a vicious cycle... hiya gay yong u write some terh and funny stuff then ppl will come back and read and contribute...
anyway adriel that time the bbq got pics anot? post on the web leh... then we can see.... =)
hey guys i noe u shld be having ur exams soon... so gd luck w all the mugging... enjoy ur time in sch.. working life is pretty terrible... especially when u dun have much of a choice.... take care...

anyways I am quite excited about my new internet connection
so i am online again
take care everyone
Yo guys... how's everyone. Anyone wana meet up for dinner?
Hi Davit. Dun believe evryting you see in the papers. No new SARS case in S'pore now. All the hype died down. My bro in Canada said the news over there made it seems like S'pore suffering from some major epidemia and people dying like flies.....
hello pple
lomng time never come here already
(my phone line at home got cut off because i forgot to pay the bills)
wow a lot of thing have been happening
i hope that everyone is sars free
sorry adriel i did not know abt the chalet but wouldn't not have made it anyhow
is everyone having their vacation now?
I am
i will be going home in two week s but not stopping by s'pore at all
how is the situation there anyways
i hope that everyone is fine and well
Hey ppl jus came back to this msg board.............
gay ge send me.
Well for those who went to the chalet thks for ur support give mi face.............
those who nv come better make sure next time ur make an effort to join our gathering. Because u can see LSL getting REALLY HAPPY!! LOL.
Just had my first paper. Bombed, took consolation in the fact that the PRC next to me who refused to stop writing at the end of exams got caught....
wEIRD nus. wanted to do health checks....Some health staff with masks, lecturers not with masks... lecturers have better immune system? Why not put everyone in masks then no need check?
Gave out answer booklet while health people checking temp, aguy got caught for attempting to cheat. Started copying from notes onto the answer booklet. Dunno if it serves him right or pity him.... A guy doing PR2202: Cosmetics and Perfume.....
My friend kena temp too high... immediately put a mask on her and whisk her to isolation room to take exam....
hope u guys r taking care in this terrible situation out there. I guess its too easy for me to say dun get uptight, relax while im over in aussie, but it really doesnt have to be the end of the world. ebola killed thousands b4 but we live on rite???
i always think spore is my safe little haven, untouched & unaffected, by war, natural calamities etc, but i guess this stupid virus taught me that u can nv be too cocky.
miss everyone in spore. wish i could be there for the upcoming chalet but sorry i'll still be here slogging it out on the books. but see u guys when i get back, we'll get together even if that means i gotta stop procastinating & do something abt it. yupz hold me to these words .
The world isn't gonna end bcoz of the comet collision on earth as speculated before... Looks like it's gonna end bcoz of a disease..... not aids but sars... (and school isn't stopping yet?!) kauz..
i have to admit the last thing i said
sound like what i said a while ago i guess i woild call it the continuation of what i heve said before
if you are wondering where is the continuation
i would say it is about regrets more then anything else
perhaps i have not expressed myself clearly
but i guess it is true what lsl said that the unpredictability of life is what makes life interesting (could not agree more)
i guess it is what decision we make that is important
wow.. i havent been here for a long time i must admit...actually meibao has been asking me to organise a class outing but i have given this sacred task to our beloved marvin the martian but of coz he hasnt taken any action yet evidently.. i mean actually i think most of us DUN mind a class outing one rite.. but we are all so lazy of planning for them..and instead of us girls doing it again.. why dun the guys show us ur prowess and do something? GAYGE.. u were the class rep.. so u shld do something..*wink*..
actually davit i thot i read something like the last msg u wrote a while back too.. (dunno if its my memory failing me but i thot it was u then too) .. looks like some things dun change we all gotta constantly remind ourselves to appreciate the little things in life.. dun take things for granted.. treasure what u have.. live life wout regrets.. i bet im gonna get some bashings for saying this.. but isnt it all becoming a little too cliche? i mean i do treasure what i have and all.. but really.. just live and be thankful we are alive.. there is no such thing as being sure in life..nuthing is forever.. maybe for a moment u knew for sure thats what u want to do but after that magic moment pass, u may realise that u are no longer that sure.. but isnt that the fun of life? nothing is for certain.. we get our highs we also get our lows.. its a natural process.. just try our best in whatever we do and leave the rest up to fate =) regrets can be beautiful too..
ya i agree w zhihao.. it seems that students in NUS are all caught up in being in this production line.. everyone seems to be slogging their hearts out for a gd CAP and being extremely competeitve .. ppl always says being in NJ was bad coz everyone is so competitve but wow.. i think the NUS students are in a league of their own in this man.. but i guess what i have mentioned is just the general population.. and forunately its not the general population that dictates who we are gonna be and how our life shld be lived out.. so long as we still have our beliefs thats cool enuff.. just dun be apathetic thats the worst.. ppl often mistake being different as BAD.. but really being different is just being different its not a gd / bad thing.. as long as u are happy w who u are.. then thats gd enuff =)
anyway the CNY is approaching and im looking forward to all the food.. to everyone.. a very exciting and colorful new year .. health and happiness to all =)

a strong sense of rationalisation makes us superior beings....
emotions set us apart from being mere animals....
we read meaningful forwarded emails almost every other day....abt treasuring life, friendship, time and other seemingly trivial issues....but we never really do wat is preached do we....?
wat abt life....?
once the school starts u get pulled into the factory line of producing tangible work....who really can dictate his or her pace of life....? or ever thought of it....?
at the end of the production line u look back and realise years have passed....then u start another journey to slog for ur life....
a car.... a house.... a family.... a child....
savings.... CPF.... job....
retirement....
should u live ur life like this....?
should we gauge anyone and give criticism if we are all factory products....?
welcome to the bewildered world of singapore's "elite"....
the undergraduates....
the "Air" Levels....
the thing is i think that we never really know what we have till we lose it
the little things in life that we do we never think of it as more that a fleeting moment
thing is we don't know what is precious till we lose it
our youthful year replaced by the realities of life that alter out psyhci
quite sad i must admit
maybe this is what everyone goes through
trials and tribulation
in the end
i think we must ask ourselves
what do we truly hve
and that what was lost
what we have done and what we should have done
everyone tries to live life without regrets
but who can say that they have truly done so
i often sit and ask myself that question and up till now i can say so but not anymore
so how can we be sure
how can we be sure
well i guess that is it for now
take care

100 Years of ANUS

Singapore's world-class educational institution has kicked off its centennial celebrations by renaming itself the Americanized National University of Singapore (ANUS), simultaneously unveiling the winner of a competition to choose the logo for the anniversary.
At a press conference held today, the Dean of Celebrations and Public Spending, Assoc. Prof. Ho Tor Cheen, explained the symbolism behind the winning design.
The university crest at the base of the design represents that the celebrations are a commemoration of how the university has rooted itself into local society.
However, the university has continued to update itself by being renamed and incorporating this ideology by the inclusion of stars and stripes in its new crest.
The centenary is stylised by a large 1 and two 0s. The 1 is extended and semi-reflected to form an arrow which points forward symbolising progress, and coloured in the official ANUS colours to represent the dual achievements of both the academic and corporate aspects of ANUS.
The two 0s in the official colours symbolise the years of foundation and accumulated experience as the base from which ANUS's progress will spring forth, and are loosely joined to form the infinity symbol, representing that ANUS will continue to progress beyond 100 years, until infinity.
Also at the press conference was the head of the varsity's Office of American Duplication, Ms Kar-Bon Koh Pee, who announced that in conjunction with the new logo, all vestiges of the university that were not in line with current practices in the top Ivy League colleges will either be abolished or renamed appropriately.
The latest was last week's decision to rename tutorials as "discussion groups", since there are no tutorials in US colleges. To curb potential confusion, the university would reflect the new nomenclature as "Discussion Groups (previously known as Tutorials)" throughout all official correspondence.
Plans are also in place to rename all halls of residence Fraternity Houses, for example, Yusof Hall would become Yusof Kapha Gamma, whilst Stamford Hall would become Stamford Alpha Theta.
But Ms Kar-Bon stressed that authoritarian rules would be introduced to allay fears of an influx of the decadent lifestyles associated with American frat houses which were unsuitable for our fragile Asian culture.
"Sort of like ordering a cheeseburger without any cheese," she quipped.
Critics of the moves have commented that it would benefit the varsity more if a revamp was not merely cosmetic, but addressed undergraduates' complaints of being inhibited and babysat like schoolchildren rather than treated as adults, but Ms Kar-Bon replied stoically that since the university has been renamed, being anal-retentive was part of its new corporate image.
However, some changes have been aimed at "making life more interesting for undergraduates", for example, by introducing an auction system whereby undergrads would have to use credits to bid the modules they needed to graduate. All modules would be put up for auction and the more popular ones would be given low quotas to make things more exciting. Unsuccessful bidders would then have to try again and again in following semesters.
Prof Ho ended the press conference by giving a preview of ANUS's plans for a grand celebration. The campus will be continuously lit round-the-clock by glittering and sparkly overhanging streetlights until December 2005, with an annual grand fiesta involving fireworks displays, musical fountains, laser shows and giant spotlights.
In a gesture of goodwill, the university will also renovate all the existing old halls of residence just before they are torn down at the end of next year.
When queried about the immense cost of funding these celebratory events, Prof Ho dismissed the concerns. "The university has enough means to raise funds for this necessary expenditure. Besides, the lights use energy-saving bulbs."
In an unrelated development, undergraduate tuition fees will be increased this academic year by a further 10% to cover "increased operating costs", the university administration announced in fineprint on a discreet notice outside the Office of Finance & Fines.
