Mid term break a.k.a 'mug away weel and feel bad for all the unfinished hmwk'
going nuts soon cos this sem got 2 cannot-make-it tutors cum lecturer.
One just point here and there on the graph on the transparency and expect us to see the invisible lines he's drawing... maybe it's like the emporer's new clothes... only dean's list pple able to see it.
the other saw us copying hmwk in class and told us to continue... so accomodating he actually stopped class and just walk ard make small talk and let us pay full attention on copying... in fact so accomodating that no one realised he left till the lesson ended...
If in future any chemical plant explode, it won't be hard to know which batch of chemical engineers did it...

Hi all! Another of LCH's impressive speech. Some interesting experience with foreign school mates to share... Some foreign students are great while some minority are simply irritating.
I remember this particular time, I was sitting at the edge of a row in the LT. This Indian scholar came in front of me, showed me his butt, and started talking to his Indian scholar mate sitting in the row in front of me. Weird... Can't he just move forward to the next row??
Then, there was this time when some Vietnamese scholars chose to walk across my densely populated row in the LT when there are many rows with less ppl seated. One by one, they knocked on my notebook, then till the last one, stepped on my foot somemore! I damn buay songly, told him, "Ah! Knock somemore! Step somemore!" He gave me a shocked look.
During tutorial, I offered to share my printed tutorial qn list with this PRC scholar for he had not prepared anything at all. Soon, other PRC scholars took my piece of paper away without asking... right under my nose... as though it was theirs. No manners I thought. We were discussing abt the topic on commiting suicide. This PRC scholar asked me what is committing suicide. I told him, "It is to kill you....u..rself ." He gave me a similar shocked look.
In lecture, foreign scholars were shouting to one another across the LT... I thought, put a few durians on the floor... he would look like a lelong durian seller. Haha.
Moral of the stories... Never mess with the Gay Ge™. Haha.

Sees QinJie floating around in my studio most of the times.....quite hard to see.....too small....
Colin did once came up to me in SDE and ruefully complained he was being bullied by QinJie that he has to come all the way to SDE to continue the Masochism process....lent him my shoulder to cry on.....
QinRan calls me sometimes and tell me about Buddha is hot and funky....
sees serena very often for the wrong reasons....trying to board the bus from the exit....etc....she will know....
and yesh the Great Gayge is having the same UE as me.....quite hectic because we have no lessons for 3 weeks already....
Marvin have developed a knack for calling me at my busiest times and ask me (oh well) "EH BROTHER...BUSY AR?"

1 hr wait for lab tech to come
2 hr trying to stablise water level while running the tank on manual mode
3 hrs doing another 20 odd test on auto mode

SOC is tougher if not as tough as any other fac in the university. Our first "real" lab experience... sux... Marvin almost got it... I gave up at the last phase... Jiawei... *sigh*. After the lab session, we got it. Damn it!
However, some interesting incidents noted:
1. The dumb thing to do is to buy a packet of milo when the milo truck is at the carpark.
2. Jiawei borrowed a matric card for visiting the toilet... coz he thought he needed one to exit the lab.
3. Watching online NUS cast Tv is the in thing to do during lectures. (hehe... watched "I guess x 3")
4. The angels commented that I was softspoken.
5. Girls is a rare specie in SOC. Pretty gals are endangered species.

Probably it's bcoz yahoo/geocities do not support cross server hosting. When crossed linked by other servers, it slows down the parent server. Hence, when the picture is hosted in geocities server, it restricts the picture to be view only thru geocities domain.

all i can say is try not to ponder too much about life. I'm back at my old waitressing job. jobs are hard to find... There are all sorts of people out there.
I'm come across a self proclaim to be very famous private investigator who wears so much gold rings and bangles he has trouble lifting his hands... some people who work damn long hours just to support their families, some who works half heartedly, thinking the job is beneath them and they just wanna get the pay and quit, someone who just retired and died of heart failure 2 weeks later etc.....
to make things short, everyone leads their own unique lives... no use focusing on all the bad things out there in the world. maybe I just suddenly have a diff point of view. I know there are all the unhappiness out there in the world but I can't erase all of them for everyone in the world. All I can do is to try to make things better for all those I care for. Give them ur full attention when they need a listening ear. help whenever they need and try to spend quality time with them.
People die and we can't do anything about them. all we can do is try not to do anything that we will regret when it's our turn to go

It had been long before anything in life triggered my thoughts enough to leave some comments in this place. Perhaps it's the Army, but then again, that's another irresponsible way of pushing responsibility in life.
Somethings that happened just recently set off my train of thoughts that have laid dormant for ages.
I have men under me, 100 of them, even WOSEs and Regular Specialists. Different backgrounds and upbringings. One of them was a young bubbly PTE with fervent interest in Bikes and Scramblers. Hardworking yet knows to hide from unnecessary work like a good NSF conscript should. In January, upon buying a new bike he met with an accident. A cab crashed into him. His left leg was shattered, ironically after a successful ops on his ACL injury on his RIGHT leg, and spent a deal of time in TTSH removing fragments from his pelvis and leg and letting his condition stabilise before recuperative ops were to be further performed. Countless operations reduced the naturally skinny young man to skin and bones. The last time I saw him was when I personally visited him in ICU, heavily sedated, and I wrote him a card "Get Well Soon, we'll play soccer again one day - PC 1FMC".
Two days ago, he passed away.
Discharged last month, he was at home, seemingly fine in recuperation. Playing with Playstation one of our chaps lent him. Almost ready to go out in a wheelchair. Doctors said a crucial vein from his injuries leading to his brain ruptured causing complications and ultimately his premature death at the promising youth of 21. On his death cert it was written "respiratory complications pending further investigation".
There, Death claims another unknowing victim...
I have men under me, some struggling to support a family with conscript NSF allowance and desperate to sign on, some parents facing divorces, some working overtime to earn for studies and family, some cry because his girlfriends leave them, some cry because devastated by deaths of parents, some sign on to fund their tertiary studies....different lives....different personalities....good men, under PC 1FMC....I dare say I have influenced and advised some of them and stood with them in the harsh selfishness of a primarily performance based Regular Army.
We have been sheltered in an environment that artifically supports our growth with fertilisers. We have been streamed from EM1, to Special SAP Schools, to premium JCs and now a straight route to U. We have some time in our lives silently scoffed at people going to ITEs and even Polytechnics because of the imbued Elitism throughout our spoilt upbringing. We have been once and again reminded that to earn money we must study hard....to what expense....? To the extend we are still studying at the age of 25 and undermining our parents hard earned CPF....?
Maybe everyone have thought of these issues before, with deeper meaning than what I contemplated. Unconsciously we are all grown adults at 21. It's time to know what we want in life, financially, emotionally and mentally. The following 10 years from now will determine the rest of our lives. It's time we have to step out of our Elitism mindset almost all JC students live with, and learn to grow in the rough climate, and grow towards where the sun shines brightly....
All i think is Live with a direction, Life can be fragile, Society is harsh, and we are all responsible adults now....
And I'll miss the chance to play soccer ever again with PTE Md Sufhaat, rest in peace my dear friend, we'll miss you....

Utada Hikaru is a talent....a rare one at that....she started singing at 7....studies at Columbia University in New York....she writes her own songs and lyrics and recently even for her new album "Distance" personally took charge as Co-Ed....as a 19 year old she is mature and appreciates literature, and listens to Hard Rock and R&B and is a fan to Freddie Mercury (Queen)(she sang his Living Without You in her recent concert),Bjork, Enigma...etc....she dresses simply and not glaringly like Ayumi or Hitomi....she was featured in the Rush Hour II sound track featuring gangsta rapper Foxy Brown in "Blow my whistle"....
and she is a romantic....hehe....like me

first you can't understand the language second the cultures are different

the guys are going to start school again this year uf i am not mistaken
education is so much easier than working
so to those guys don't get jittery
it could be boring

but it is a hell lot more enjoyable if you could have fun along the way and not run around in some jungle
plus it is a lot easier for me to get in touch with the men when i am in town

Well well....quite the contrary, its because of her change in image (like you say "...always dun wear clothes one...") that causes me not to like her.
In the very early days, when Ayumi is still not so popular, she looks demure and sweet...but then SUDDENLY, everything changes!...she starts changing her image, then come out with a lot of funny funny remixes and many many different versions of singles......wah...like cheat money like that..... so thats why I finally woke up and stop..
That day I went to NUH to visit my colleague. On way back home, I pass by NUS, saw the people there, the buildings there, people carrying bags, files and books waiting at the bus-stops, those shag and tired face...... suddenly thought of those schooling days of mine...
To think that it is only less than 1/2 a year before many of us will be back in school studying again...time really flies.....Most of us are about to complete our 2 1/2 years of national service............

when I was clearing in teh studio today a moment came to me the sense of rupture of loss and completetion there was peace withing my heart thought we will be seing each other again tomorrow everyone's mood was different everyone was tired and relaxed anticipating tomorrow knowing that it will never be the same again in that part of the third floor the chalanges the many sleepless nights the frustration and best of all the joy and laughter over the most irrational thing like repeating a line one of our teacher said and trying to finds the intepretation of it
though i will go through the gaunlet tomorrow i feel ready and at peace with my project it seems to have ended but i know there are things that will never be resolved in this lifetime but all in all it has been quite an interesting entry to the world of architecture and the road is still long and arduous but i will rest my feet for now

it is all insanity
me have my final project to finsh by this sunday
now i am confused about what i am trying to do i have no idea at all
if i can't understand what the program of my project
nobody will
i am fuck but than now that i am tipsy from a few drinks i know where to go now
everything is starting or it seems to be falling into place and for the next few days it is all going to be all work and no rest
architecture is all consuming and insane at the same time
but it is all going to be screwed because i will get ripped apart no matter what in crit
it is driving to the bring the maoent of rupture where the whole thing will fall into place and be able to be a coherent whole instead of fragments where nothing makes sense wholistically I just hope that the moment will come tommorrow after i get a night of rest and drunken stupor
so wish me well and hope that i can pull what i what i want to do off like a light at the end of the tunnel end the whople thing will be able to stand as a whole

Seems like everyone in reflective mood so I shall put in my three cents worth............... I finally understood why people say that you must learn to cherish those around you cos when you want to do so, they might not be around anymore. as some may know my garndpa was in hospital in Feb and was in and out of intensive care and ended staying in hospital for ard 6 months before he passed away. so I took time during lunch and after class to go feed him ,look after him etc..........
it is not easy watching someone slowly fade away day by day, month after month, slowly forgeting who you are, bedridden, losing the ability to speak, move, sleeping more and more, wheezing for his ever breath......... I remember one morning I was so tired and it was exam time so I end up slouching and sleeping on the chair next to his bed.When I woke up he was stroking me on my head.
and finally when he passed away, I was at the freshmen welcome camp. due to work and preparation for camp, I hadn't visit him for more than a week.And by then it was too late.but i din drop a single drop of tear for his funeral cos i know it was hurting him too much to stay alive and i couln't bear to watch him suffer and not be able to help...........
so I agree with qinjie.......the ever wise one........

I noe it's become common for emails and pple to say " Treasure all those around...bal hbalh blah...." or " timeis precious"....dunno stuff like dat...
but to read it is one thing, to read and understand is another, to read and understand and be touched is another....
Sometimes, I wonder...what am I doing with my life, spending nights over st the studio, tearing my hair out debating over concepts concepts and more concepts...Then dun have time for my frens and family...
thinkning back, 2 years ago, would I have even imagined that this is the kindda life that I'lll be living?
I'm not in depression...=) Definitely not....But just think I get my priorities wrong at times, and suddenly, a lot of things just dun seem important after all, and being happy, being sian, being angry, being optimistic became a choice.

Although we are thousands of miles away from US, DPM cum Minister for Defence Dr Tony Tan has called for a High Alert mode in SAF. My unit today received order that our personnel on sentry and desk duty are to put on helmet and SBO and stressed that this high alert mode is not to alarm or cause anxiety among the civilians.
Now every guard duty is guarenteed at least 2 turn outs during the sleepless night. Needless to say... Field Duty Officer(FDO) will sure come and spot check or turn out. Sighz.... Why ah...?? Life no good lah.
Anyway, the morale of the US bombing???

just entered the NUS buddhist society and checks out
buddhist spots ard the island with her guide.....For

Hehe, Qin ran, why you BS one never turn up for

happily studying in NTU.Her beau last spotted at Fong
Seng, living in Eusoff hall.
5)Adriel last spotted by an informant of mine looking still
as fair as ever, just going hm on a mon morn after a
burnt weekend.

buddy now, super on in sch.....so much activities joined

Tell Qingran I'm so sorry I haven't emailed her. Is Zhihao still so impulsive and hot-tempered? :) How's Marvin? I do wish I can see you people again.

Stereo effect with new-age ringtones -- Channel NewsFLASH™ 98S16, 01:08:16 08/31/01 Fri
Mobile users will soon be able to buy phones that stand out in a crowd with their polyphonic tones
IF YOU like mobile phones that play pop hits, wait until you get an earful of this. Current models of mobile phones that play monotone sounds will soon be rendered obsolete by polyphonic ringtones which sound like they are transmitted in stereo.
Ringtones now play one musical note at a time, whereas polyphonic ringtones play multiple notes, creating a fuller, richer and more musical sound.
While the technology is not exactly new, it has been limited mainly to Japanese mobile phones which do not use the GSM system found in Europe, Singapore and parts of Asia. But from October, these phones will be playing here.
French mobile-phone maker Alcatel's One Touch 511 is expected to be the first polyphonic phone to hit stores here, followed soon after by the Japanese Panasonic GD95 and Mitsubishi Trium Eclipse.
Mr Nicolas Bossut, product marketing manager of Alcatel's Asia-Pacific mobile-phone division, said: 'We are convinced that polyphonic ringtones will be the latest 'in thing' in mobile phones.'
With three-quarters of Singaporeans owning a mobile phone, it is becoming increasingly important to have a different ringtone - especially in crowds.
Not content with monotone ringtones that come with phones currently, users here are buying different ringtones from mobile-phone operators and from 1900 numbers.
Mr Cyrille Even, vice-president of Mobileway Asia Pacific, which delivers ringtones via SMS, estimates that there are between 500,000 and 800,000 ringtone downloads in Singapore every month.
A recent collaboration between his company and French ringtone expert Digiplug is taking polyphonic ringtones worldwide, first by creating catchy ringtones, then selling them to mobile-phone operators and other ringtone sellers.
Mr Bossut said his company was now working with mobile-phone operators here to provide polyphonic ringtone downloads for their subscribers.

Chemical scare prompts Levi's to recall jeans -- Channel NewsFLASH™ 98S16, 01:01:22 08/31/01 Fri
BRUSSELS - Levi's has recalled tens of thousands of pairs of jeans in Europe after finding that the chemicals used in their manufacture could cause skin and respiratory problems.
The United States denim maker announced the recall of a new model, called 'Glossy Finish', on Tuesday.
The decision affects the whole of western Europe, Scandinavia and Turkey, said a spokesman for Levi's European headquarters in Brussels.
It came after two employees involved in making the jeans complained of skin irritation and breathing problems, she said.
She did not elaborate on their condition.
Laboratory tests also showed that subjecting the jeans to high temperatures, such as ironing them, could release vapours that caused breathing problems, the spokesman added.
She stressed that the company had so far received no complaints from customers.
A total of 105,000 'Glossy Finish' jeans were distributed to shops this month.
However, the company said it did not know how many pairs had been sold so far.
While the jeans were being removed from shelves, the company was setting up a telephone line to handle customer queries and to organise reimbursements, the spokesman said. --AFP

hey yo well pple be going to bed soon but i just want to share this you pple me just finished my drawing finals and prepared to be ripped apart in crit that will be my last studio class for my freshman year kind of sad that i will not have drawing with Tom (my drawing instructor) anymore
he is a great guy
but oh well time to move on
but also want to share this thought with you pple
we all have come a long way and learnt so much (at least i have) finishing our freshman year but it seems like only yesterday
sometimes i wish life would come to a standstill in an enjoyable moment and stay that way and i will never have to worry and to think about anything at all
i have always been an advocate of living in the present
so there will be not regrets and no disappointment because you know you tried your best
all in all there is no one intepretation of this text but i feel for me at least life is a journey and there will always be times to move on and i really don't understand why i still cling onto this msg board sometimes there isn't a point in remeniscence except to feel nostlagic but what is the point of that except an utter and complete waste of time
what happens in the future i don't know but we'll see and find out with trepidation and fear of uncertainty maybe that is the beauty of living

ya, the pace of life has became so fast that sometimes you might pause and think what is all that you are doing for. But once you understand what you want in life, you will not feel so lost. My friends were very stressed these days because of all the ppt and project that we have to hand in, and because the others who had already presented were very impressive. I thought that stress comes from yourself and how you treat the matter, if you are able to just do your best in everything you do, rather than comparing with others, you will feel better. I know it is hard as the reality is you will be compared against others, but it is my own view, I don't wanna make life more miserable. If you wanna compare, you should also consider those who are less fortunate, those who are not able to see, to read or write for one reason or another...so you should see that life is not all perfect, you win some, you lose some, Juz think in the brighter side! To those feeling down, cheer up, and those stressed up, relax, it is not the end of the world...

what the hell is that suppose to mean
it is like asking what colour are you red, green, orange or pink
i really think one has to only conduct oneself based on the set of principles or believes
it is like i would never kill anyone but i would lie to someone if it is a matter of life or death
who are they to say how i am suppose to act
however the way i behave do actually or i hope that it reflects me believes and principle
what gives us the right to judge anyone
are we too critical or are we simply too conceited
and why should we worry about what pple think
ultimately you have to decide if it is worth it
i don't think that i want to regret my life before the moment of my death fifty years from now
i say why worry about little minor thing like that and miss the world that is going so fast already
when was the last time anyone slowed down to wonder and admire at the bright blue sky
the thing is ultimately there are thing that are trivial and thing that are important
and i would not want to kick myself for not doing the things i really want to do when my time runs out
so if pple talk i say so be it
if they have a problem with you
it is their problem not yours so why worry

how is everyone
me here still the same waiting for the biggest snow storm to hit this little place called providence it just started little white snowballs are falling already and every are planning their homework schdule around the hope of classes being cancelled which would never happen because this school is just to crazy to make us walk in the storm so i will be having an interesting time going to class though thankfully my studios are not that far compared to a lot of pple I know
i really would like to have nice sunny weather right now where i can just wear sandals and my favourite bermudas but it is not passible here for the next month though i am looking forward to spring whch means i would be a lot closer to going home well i love to continue this wonderful escape but i have thing to do and pple to talk to so everyone take care nad have fun since you pple can get drinks legaly now unlike me

Wah!Really looks like the old messageboard here!Very cosy!I think for the pple in University,the year seems to pass quicker cos we are having a shorter sem lor....I still can't believe that it's almost 2 years since the messageboard was set up!Man!I feel old!Remeber the incident with the DingDong guy when we first started this board??????? When's the next class outing??? Yunqin, your new address suits you. Summerdale. So bright and chirpy sounding....hahahaha!

wah this place ,our new home, is quite cool huh? looks like the real mccoy here man.. and the add ezier n shorter than last time that one.. well at least now we can still keep in touch man.. ok take care guys.. i agree w yq that this yr pass very fast.. like nuthing much happen then march liao.. soon will be exams.. then hols then we get caught in the vicious cycle called sch again.. arghh.. life is such a pain sometimes hahha.. well all take care.. n maybe we can meet up again soon or sumthing.. =)

Yesh. Finally, our Message Board has arrived here... at www.voy.com.... took mi quite some time to find a board with similar format like the previous one we have.
Our Message board was est. on 1 April 1999 and it has provided us its loyal service since then. However, it is unfortunate that it has to shut down. Nevertheless, we have found a new home here...
Hope this is alrite with u ppl and spread the news amongst the rest pls.
