This story began three years ago during NaWrNoMo 2002, and as NaWrNoMo 2005 is now upon us, it is long past time to call it 'finished' and share it with fellow AU LFN fans.

The story is complete, and I will be posting it serially. I can't promise to post every day during the month, but close - after all, I think this just makes the 50,000 word cut for a NaWrNoMo novel - and I will need the majority of days just to fit it all in!

This story began, of all things, as a cross over with the Heath Ledger vehicle - A Knight's Tale.

Heath, sadly, is no where to be found in this, final version of my story and almost nothing is left of that movie, with the sole exception that in my head, my OC Hugh Barbant is being protrayed by Rufus Sewell. You are welcome to do the same!

This story is now straight-up historical AU, and to the best of my ability and google-fu, it is largely accurate in it's presentation of the political and military history of Britian and France in the middle 14th century. The only liberty I have taken is to create the Duchy of Rouen, which does not now and never did exist, and a line of the French Royal Family to account for it. For those who like their historical AUs to reseal the breach in time, I imagine that the descendants of the Duke of Rouen died at Agincourt, and when the French regained Rouen during the reign of Charles (a few years after Joan of Arc's death in 1431), the duchy was not re-established.
