My dad (Capt. A. Gardner Coffin) and I are big into pirates and even bigger into Pirate movies with Robert Newton. We poor over every word while pooring a noggin of rum before we hobble to the ole "Cask and Anchor". I was wondering....besides "Blackbeard the Pirate", "Treasure Island", and "Long John Silver", did Newton make any other serious pirate movies with the same sorts of pirate lingo???
Thanks....Seth

Ahoy, matey! Those are the only three pirate films he made, but he also appeared in the Long John Silver TV series. The show was a lot of fun--better than the movie, IMHO. There were 24 episodes in all, but only 14 have been released on video. Movies Unlimited has 10 episodes: http://www.moviesunlimited.com/musite/frameset/index.asp?frame=product%2Easp&sku=107448

Hi everyone!

I agree that the series was better than the movie. My hubby surprised me this Christmas with 14 episodes of the series, which I have watched over and over, hehe. :)

Ar, that be a right thoughtful husband ye got there, Trisha!

BTW, just to clarify, I'd say the series is better than the *LJS* movie--but not better than Treasure Island, of course. I even liked it better than Blackbeard. Would you agree?

Seth, matey, let us know what you and your father think of it. (Cap'n, eh? Ar, might he be a ship cap'n?)
