Subject: The Missing Film

HELP! I know I saw a movie as a child with Robert Newton that I can't seem to find anywhere listed. He had kidnapped a small boy and his little dog. While he was negotiating with the child's parents over several weeks, Newton would daily bring a small quantity of acid to the hideout where the boy was tied up. He would put the acid in a tub with the obvious intent of getting rid of the boy when he had collected the ransom. Meanwhile, the boy was daily training his little dog to pull the plug on the tub without falling in. He eventually did escape in a breath-taking scene.

I know I'm not crazy, but if no one has ever heard of this, then I'm going to write the script and make a fortune on it! Now come on people, what is this missing film?

Sounds like you're thinking of one of Susan G.'s favorite RN movies, "Obsession" (released as "The Hidden Room" in the U.S.) ... except for a few details. For example, the hostages are his wife's lover (adult, of course) and her dog. I definitely recommend seeing it again!
