Wednesday, June 1, marks the 100th anniversary of Robert Newton's grand entrance into the world. Let's celebrate right here by helping ourselves to a hearty servin' o' Cap'n Silver's plum duff, some of Baker Lindsay's Barnbury pastries, and the beverage of your choice. Then pop your favorite Robert Newton movie into the machine and share your thoughts here. Which movie(s) did you choose?

I know it's a little early to be putting out the decorations, but I wanted to make sure I made the most vital updates this week before I go out of town. In fact, guess where I'm headed? If all goes as planned, I'll be in Cornwall (where he grew up) on Robert Newton's birthday. I'm also hoping to make a pilgrimage to Shafesbury, Dorset, unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll be able to get there on the actual day, but it'll be close! I'll probably be passing through on the 2nd. Last I heard, the town was setting up a display about him there. Of course, I'll give you the full report when I get back. (Or, if you're not here on the chatboard, maybe I'll see you there!)

I believe Odd Man Out has become my second favorite (that was quite a performance-and the opposite of Obsession!). [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
