I just wanted to make a comment on The High and the Mighty disc set. I received my copy last week and included with the movie is a disc that has several segments that include the making of the movie, scenes from the movie, flying during the fifties, John Wayne's production company, etc.. Anyway Leonard Maltin narrates one segment and during hiscommentary, he goes through the selection of the actors. He mentions everyone from , of course, John Wayne to Pedro Gonzales-Gonzales and makes comments about them, EXCEPT, Robert Newton. He mentions his name as part of the 'All Star' cast but never elaborates on why he was chosen or anything else about him!! I felt it was a tribute to John Wayne (of course it was his production company that made the film) but RN certainly deserved more of a mention than he got. What did everyone else think of this?

What do you suppose Maltin has against Robert Newton? It's not like he doesn't know who RN was; he had a lot to say about him in his book _The Disney Films_ and wrote an entry on him in his _Film Encyclopedia_ (quoted on the IMDb). I was planning to buy the DVD, but now that I know the extras are for John Wayne fans only, maybe I won't bother!
