I now have to agree with the majority of you! Now that I'm over the idea that Blackbeard the movie has almost nothing to do with the real Blackbeard--and past the cartoonish acting and bad jokes--the movie's actually starting to grow on me! At least it has a more original storyline than Long John Silver, which, now that I watch it again, suffers from sequel-itis. Whereas the TV series goes off in its own direction, the movie seems to be trying too hard to rehash all the "greatest hits" of Treasure Island. (Corniest scene: Long John reluctantly hits Jim--for his protection--then turns away and secretly rubs his own hand in pain.) Oh well, I guess each one has its own good and bad points--but neither one comes close to the original Treasure Island. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

I used to watch the show, and saw both movies as a young man, have used the line all my life, and cannot remember where I first heard it to save my soul !
