I am a classroom teacher and I also work with dyslexic children. One strategy that I have found that works well to help the children learn spelling words is to write them on flash cards. Get the child to read each word while you hold it up so they need to look up to read it. Then get the child to spell each word while looking at the card, chanting each letter using rhythm. Finally I get them to march up and down the room keeping to the rhythm and spelling the word out as before, using the cards to spell from. The children find this strategy fun too which is always a bonus!
I have found that the next week when I take them again, the children will often quietly chant the spelling of the word in rhythm to help them write it down.
