 I can remember at 16 my tutor taking me to a museum to look at some educational exhibits. I thought I might be allowed shorts at least. Not a bit of it. She said there is nothing wrong with your smart navy gymslip. Still with bare legs, white pelerine socks and flat Mary Jane sandals. I also wore a white blouse and tie.
