As someone said below, Water Rats are coming back on! Unfortunately it's on a 2 in the arvo - but at least it's on! :D I read in the paper it's on on Monday (it's thursday now) but it's starting at Episode 5 - maybe I missed the first 4. Oh well. And also the telemovie (which Colin Friels starred in) 'The Farm' got nominated for something at the Logies last Sunday, which was great - except 'Changi' won. Anyway, I'm sitting here with a grin on my face from the news, better go.

This was in the news today:

JASON Donovan will star in a new ABC medical-legal drama.
Donovan will join Lantana's Kerry Armstrong in MDA (Medical Defence Australia).

It is the first major TV role for Donovan since Neighbours in the 1980s.

The new role is part of a career revival for Donovan, who is getting the most attention since the height of his soap opera popularity.

The new show will also star well-established actors Shane Bourne and Aaron Pedersen.

Donovan and Armstrong's characters will clash with each other and will be the focus of the drama.

Directors from SeaChange, Changi and The Secret Life of Us are all involved in the production.

Donovan flew into Melbourne yesterday to prepare for the role.

Shooting will start next Wednesday.

It is expected that the drama will be shown some time in 2002.

The drama is described as a mix between a medical and legal drama.

Hi there...

Now that my local station has aired the final episodeof Water Rats, I'm trying to figure out just when I started watching the series. I've looked through all the episode guides, but I'm not finding anything that helps me.

The first episode I remember seeing... included some kind of breath holding / freedive competition. And the guy who was trying for the record didn't come back up.

My guess is that it's second or third season, but I don't know which episode it was. Any help out there? Thanks!

At the end of Water Rats they said it was the series finale.
I was skimming through the TV Scene and they were talking about The West Wing saying that nine should buy the second series as it is in america

Does this leave the door open to a new series of Water Rats

Any really big dee smart fans, seriously, don't read this.

I just heard a rumour about why the show ended, or what *aided* in its ending. And I tried to post it on the channel 9 message board... while it was still there... but they blocked it. So it could be true. Either way, it concerns dee smart and a bit of smack and a bit of protecting from her good friends the Packers. Obviously there's a lot more detail to that rumour, but ack! I just had to share the basics. It distressed me to hear it.

I saw the programme for TvDanmark2 next Saturday at 21.40 Water Rats (152:177), and if you miss it Saturday evening there will be a second chance Sunday 11.25. YES!!
And if you missed the rerun that stops today on TvDanmark2, they are starting all over tomorrow. On TvDanmark1 the rerun starts again today.

Yeah, anyone got the soudtrack uploaded...? I've found some partial songs... only for a couple of seconds...Yeah, yeah I know legal thing bla bla... but what can i do when the CD is not sold in my country??

truth is, can't listen to Goldie's and Frank's song without feeling like crying..hehehe...mussy i know... but can't help myself...

Hey all,

This is my first msg in here... Water Rats started quite late in Malaysia and it's still in Season 5... I didn't like it at first, dismissing it as another cop story... Then one day, out of boredom, I watched it and hey presto... I'm still watching till today :).
I heard they axed the show... Too bad... Gonna miss em... Have a pain in my chest right now...hehehe...
Anyway my fav are Helen, Goldie and Frank. And no matter what ppl say, I still say Goldie should be with Frank...

PRODUCTION on a new Australian drama from the makers of SeaChange and starring Catherine McClements will start on Monday.

The Network Ten series CrashBurn will explore two sides of a troubled relationship with a cast of well-known Aussie actors, many of whom are AFI Award winners.

McClements (pictured), the former Water Rats star who recently brought home an AFI for Ten's The Secret Life of Us will star alongside Sacha Horler from Russian Doll, Aaron Blabey from the stage show Shout!, Liz Burch of Wildside, Grant Piro of Blue Heelers, stage star Richard Piper and comedian Bob Franklin.

The 13-part series was created by Deb Cox and Andrew Knight, who also created the ABC hit SeaChange and have collaborated on shows and films including Simone de Beauvoir's Babies and Siam Sunset.

SeaChange stars William McInnes and Alison Whyte (the producer's assistant in Frontline) will also appear in CrashBurn in guest roles.

The series is one of four Australian drama series produced by Network Ten this year. Others are the legal drama Life, cop series White Collar Blue and the second series of The Secret Life of Us.

You all probably know this by now, but for those who don't know yet: Dee Smart had a baby girl called Charlie some time in October (sorry, don't know the exact birth date), and Catherine McClements gave birth to a baby girl earlier this summer (or winter if you live in Australia/New Zealand). According to information on the Catherine McCelements Yahoo club, the baby's name Vilula Ella, and her nickname is Clementine Coco.

oh my gosh i've found sum more water rats fans
people think im wewird im sooo crazy about water rats.
i dont miss a single episode but now itz finished
i tapoed the last episode and every week i watch it again when it should be on!!!
when it was on i reminded my class every week. Thursday 8:30pm tv2.
people didn't believe me how good it was till they watched it and were hooked too.
i think it should definitely start up again and find sum new stars like blair from big brother and there are also plemty of nz stars i mean look at jay Lagaia. if thery are lucky they could get russel crowe.
anyway if u reckon therte should be more of water rats pleaz rite bak

Water Rats has always been an expensive show and a couple of years ago big budget cuts were made which Nine promised would not affect the way the show appeared on television - which was true. You have to remember Water Rats ran for seven seasons and some big names came and went such as Catherine McClements and Colin Friels. The show was strongly based around these two characters initially and despite getting actors equally as good a lot of loyalty to the show went with those character. Seven years is a big achievement and you have to remember all good things come to an end. Everyone wants reasons for the shows end but the fact is that a culmination of various reasons came to a head and it finally couldn't keep going any longer. This isn't to say that it, in anyway, went under it simply ran out of steam. It was a great show which came to the end of the line (excuse all the cliche's I'm tired). Not many shows make Seven years and Water rats did it in style to the very last episode. It will be a show I remember till I'm old enough to watch reruns in my - 60's? Just like Cheers or MASH

Don't you think that its strange how water rats introduced a new charecter into the show for 3 episodes then have a series finale.
My dad works at channel ten, and he said there are rumors that the end of the show was a very sudden decision. The main result was that the main reason that water rats folded was 90% on that channel nine didn't want to fund the show any more, and that the show was getting espensive to do ($AUD150000) an episode.

Because in America, the west wing had a series finale but is coming back with "The Next Series Of The West Wing"
The end of water rats was called a series finale like the West Wing?

Is it just me or have people stopped writing Water Rats Fan fics? I have nothing to read now. I do have some ideas for those of you have no ideas for new stories, but would like to still write them. 1st is where Rachel is married to Jonathon before David is born and they are still "Happily" married. 2nd is where Rachel gets it on with Jeff and Gavin is the same story. 3rd is Rachel has a baby, but you can decide who the father is.

Okay, so 'D' told us that she got an email address: dee_smart@www.com soooooo I went to www.com and because I knew that you have to put in your alternate address incase you loose your password [ I have an account there]. And when you forget your pass [as i have done before] they say password sent too ........

so i did this for 'D's email and this is what email it gave me!!!!!
