Public Health- I campaign was set to start July 24, 2003 to help the citizens be aware of the disease carrying insect problems in parts of the country where it is not prone to it. A place where standing water is present, has a possible chance for breeding insects such as mosquitoes. They could carry a disease to you.

U.S., Costa Rica Reach Trade Pact-Monday, January 26, 2004-
The Bush administration reached an agreement with Costa Rica that would allow that nation to join four of its neighbors in creating a Central American Free Trade Area with the United States. The agreement came after two weeks of intense negotiations aimed at overcoming differences in such areas as telecommunications and insurance that had prompted Costa Rica to back out at the last minute from completing the CAFTA talks last month with the four other nations, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras. While the country will maintain bans against foreign competition in other areas of telecommunications, U.S. negotiators said they were satisfied that they had torn down barriers in the areas of most interest to U.S. companies.

Contaminate leaves part of Costa Rican capital with unsafe drinking water- Jan. 24, 2004-In San Jose (the capital), an unknown contaminate leaked into municipal pipes, leaving 50,000 people in Costa Rica's capital with unsafe drinking water., authorities said Wednesday. "...locals complained their water smelled of cooking oil."Authorities detected contaminated water in the same area in July of 2001.
