My first article is Egypt, U.S. Press Mideast Peace Efforts. In this article Egypt’s foreign minister met with Palestinian leaders on Tuesday to push for a halt to Palestinian attacks against Israelis, a first step toward restarting talks over a stalled international peace plan. The most interesting quote I saw was-“It is a significant visit and we hope that Egypt will be able to revive Palestinian dialogue”, said Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian peace negotiator. Egypt’s success in this endeavor could be the key to resuming a peace process.

My second article is called ten dead pulled from Cairo rubble. A high-rise building fell killing 10 people. On the lower floors of the building a fire was occurring. Nine of the ten people that died were police and firemen. At least 30 people were injured and several are still trapped in rubble after the building collapsed on Monday. Most of the people in the building were evacuated in time. The search is still continuing for the survivors and victims because they are stick thought to be under the rubble.

My third article is called Storms force Suez Canal to close. Egypt has closed the Suez Canal as severe storms continue to wreak havoc in the eastern Mediterranean. Airports and roads elsewhere in Egypt were also closed because of sandstorms which reduced visibility to zero. Shipping at the Suez Canal was suspended at about 0200 local time (0000 GMT) on Friday, blocking some 30 ships at the northern end of Port Said. A number of vessels were also stuck at the southern end of the 195-kilometre-long (120-mile) canal. Egyptian officials said the waterway would only be reopened when the weather improved but meteorologists said this might not happen until early next week.

Three other headlines-Pharoah's Mummy to Egypt, Egypt Brotherhood Leader Dies and New Trial ordered for Egyptian Activist.
