Autumn Falls Again...

Holly, Just trying to get out more and expand my horizons - I really enjoy visiting
this board. Usually I focus on my "fan fiction" writing but I do have a bunch of
orginal poetry, short stories and writings of "novel" proportations. So I thought I'd
share a poem of mine, (that actually saw print) called Autumn Falls Again.

My poetry has 3 basic themes: New England based poetry about my home, love
(these poems were written after meeting my husband and I haven't written any after
the first year of us being together) and dark, painful stuff. I thought I'd keep it
rather light and post one about my home...

Oh, before we get to that, I just want to say congrats to all the new mommies on
the board, your pictures and memories are wonderful and I want to thank you for
sharing.

Anyway...onto the poem.

Autumn Falls Again

Spring comes every year
It’s time to be happy,
A time for cheer.

Summer’s here –
Everyone’s alive!
Everyone’s on the ride!

And slowly…the chilly air creeps in
And slowly…the leaves change
And slowly…the harvest moon rises in the sky
As Autumn Falls Again.

Remember the warm sun and wet sand?
Autumn Falls…
Remember fresh lilacs and bright lights?
Autumn Falls…
A couple’s wedding under a clear blue sky?
Autumn Falls Again.

April showers and budding flowers…
Means nothing at all
May smiles and happy faces…
No, nothing at all
June sunshine and summer fun…
Nothing at all

When September rolls around
And Autumn Falls Again
Yes, Autumn Falls Again

Game

I know the Game
I know how to play it
I know the rules
And I know how to win.

I put on my favorite mask
I put on my best music
I buy the best drinks
And I know how to win.

I know when to smile
I know when to be mad
I know when to scorn
And I know how to win.

…But when I let my guard down,
(because the Game’s weakness is Compassion)

I always lose.

The Storm

The Storm

All around me the wind is blowing
As raindrops hit the ground, they prance.
Down in front of me, the river is rapidly flowing
Everywhere I turn, bushes and trees dance.

As I stand here the storm calls to me
And I, compelled, can not turn away.
Nature says let her be
But I know her tempest will end by day.

The darkness surrounds me, the biting wind
The wet, the damp… is all around
And I wonder, have I sinned?
As lighting and the trees fall to the ground.

The Storm surrounds me, causes me to turn,
The Storm engulfs me, causes my passions to burn.
