] Date Posted: 19:50:55 02/10/04 Tue Untamed Wind. Sir, So much is said and done about the entry of Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi into politics. But still they cannot fill the vacuum in Congress If one sits down and breaks his head seriously as to why there are no Vajpayees or Advanis, Mahajans or Jaitleys in the Congress Party, the obvious answer that will cross his mind is: In the BJP people come up by the sweat of their brow, after deacdes of bench-warming as opposition members, while as in the Congress, it is wholly different. The Nehru-Gandhi charisma has given such an endless momentum to its successors that, even a very very ordinary member of the family, who knows not an iota of politics, can also zoom to the top post, with an enviable ease. Lets consider Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi for instance. Their contributiuon to Indian politics before attaining the current elevation is absolutely nil. Sonia Gandhi, who is hardly half - a - decade old to politics, can afford to excoriate the likes of Vajpayee. But on the contrary, if a six or seven year old babu from BJP tries to pooh-pooh Sonia Gandhi, he is liable to harsh criticism from the media and often, it may cost him his 'political virginity.' The Emergency, during Indira Gandhi's rule was a helpless expression made by the Indian democracy, attempting to demonstrate the inefficacy of Indira, when unbacked by her father. There would be no Nehru sans Gandhi, no Indira sans Nehru, no Rajiv sans Indira and the sequence goes on upto infinity. Even the deadliest rapes of Indian democracy like Bofors scandal, committed by them, cannot curb that momentum. It is like an untamed wind, being an Indian, one needs to put up with it, whether or not he wishes to do so. I wonder for how many generatrions -to come, should India suffer the treatment of the smooth, yet hoarse hands of the going-to come heirs of the Nehru dynasty. - Hemant Krishna V. Date Posted: 22:45:32 08/24/04 Tue Hello. I’m a journalist from Venezuela seeking for information about Rahul Gandhi’s girlfriend (fiancée?). I believe she is a Venezuelan girl named Veronica. I want to write a piece about her. I need her last name to track her down in my city. Does any one have a clue? I will be very grateful if someone could help me with related information. Thanks!
