- Miss you Becker -- CHRIS "ROD" RODRIGUEZ, 09:21:32 04/09/08 Wed [1]
Hey kid, how've ya been. I know you're watching from above at the lives we continue to lead down here. I only hope that your pleased with us and what we've done. I want you to know that some may forget but there are many that will not. Although some bastards in this world put blame on you and the crew, i along with others know the truth and we will never forget. It's funny how the legal system can be swayed by forked tounge liars and the guilty run free. I have a punching bag and dummy named after our least favorite person. If it helps you to know that i beat that shit everyday and with alot of pleasure. I miss you man and is paitently waiting till the day we can sit and chit chat like old times.

- A Sister's Thoughts -- Debey Senska, 15:59:09 03/18/08 Tue [1]
Gunnar's sister wrote this about her brother, on the 3rd anniversary of his death. I quote........."For those of you who do not know anything about Gunnar I will describe his character with the best of my abilities. Gunnar was not a star athlete. Also, he was by no means an honor student. Popularity was not something that was a necessity in his life. But he was real. He always believed in who he was as a person and where he was going to get himself. He was true to his friends and honest with his family.''
Because his little sister (honestly) knew Gunnar, better, than anyone else, in this world, I feel compelled, to share her thoughts.

- Kuwait flag football -- James "Dr. Giggles" Dolph, 07:20:52 03/08/08 Sat [1]
Hey Becker,
We're all missing you brotha. I just wanted to talk to you about that last football game we were having in the desert of Kuwait together. Yea i know, it was your platoon vs mine. Athletically, you guys had the more superior team i think but i wasn't about to let you and the LT get through my line as easily as you had hoped. Don't get me wrong bro, i got much love for ya, but when the QB is behind me with the ball, the gloves come off brotha. I'm still sore from that game though. It was about 4 years ago i know... but, you still hurt my delicate feelings by punching through my ego-driven defensive line. AYE, don't worry, we're gonna have a rematch when i get to where you are brotha.
me and the guys still talk about you. you are dearly missed friend.

You have humbled me. My wars are: peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, yogurt, and crayons smeared wherever they do not belong...the walls, chairs, pillows (my head does lay upon them every so often). And let us not forget the ever-flowing fluid from the nose(otherwise known as "snail-trail") left only observationally through the rays of sunlight streaming through the window). I cannot tell you how often I want to throw up the white flag...and then I read your e-mail....I take down my white flag (with great shame) and wipe the flow of tears,( an effort of futility)and look up into the heavens and say a prayer of sincere Thanksgiving. Thank you God and Thank you Tony. Because of you, both of you ( I fear many may misunderstand my aligning a mere man with GOD)I HAVE LIFE!!!!!! Not a life that ends with no hope for a morrow. Not a life lived and living and to live with a "morrow" But truly...a life. I am living and breathing and actually deciding (with some disgust and yes...even laughter)...over who will lead my country for the next 4 years, Thank you Tony, for the risk you have taken... for ME:) I love you with all of my heart xoxoxo Aunt Helene

Memories -- Paul Ackman, 16:54:26 01/13/08 Sun [1]
So I remember around christmas we were privileged enough to have Dereck back with us. We sat around and bullshitted about the past, the camper, the times car hooding. Cant forget about Hinkers Truck. We thought our asses were going to be kicked when we had to inform the adults of what just happend.
At the time we were dreading for this day to come for it is tuff on everyone.
So here I sit at work today. All caught up in the everyday bullshit we have to put up with. I get an email from my mother reminding that the day has come where we have lost such an amazing life. I instantly broke down when I read the email. I can not and will not forget what type of man Gunner turned into. He has represented us all so very well.
He is friend who would bend over backwards to make sure you were happy. yet a man who would call ya bitch for dropping a melon. A Man who would put his life on the line for anyone as he has proven, yet a friend to all the children in Iraq.
As we Mourn on this day, I ask everyone to take a few minutes and remember how Gunner has touched everyone in his own very unique way.
Gunner I want you to keep an eye on everyone, and you need to remember there is not a day that goes by where your not in our thoughts and prayers
Love To All
RIP GDB

My true and honestly heartfelt condolences to the family and Friends of Pfc Gunnar Becker ... It makes me really sad when I read about the Death of so young and loyal soldiers like PfC Becker was one. For sure I don t know who the Person Gunner Becker was like but I m sure he was one of the guys who wanted to make these world safer... may I don t agree with this war ... but if we don t let the momories of soldiers like pfc gunnar becker drift away, the next generations will see what war means and will know how to stop it ...
my sincere condolences

How are you doing? I just thought I would check-in. I saw the picture of your road on Keloland. I hope that they get out there to fix it soon and that you didn't have to much damage to anything else. We had a little damage out at our farm but other than that nothing was bothered in town. I just thought I would drop a line and let you know that when you get a chance send me an email and I will get one back with a picture of the kids. I am hoping to come up for graduation so maybe will have a chance to check in then. Take care and you are in our prayers!

Debey-
I had never imagined that after I moved away and had 2 little angels of my own that I would get the news that Gunnar was gone. I have a lot of fond memories of the times that we shared growing up in Forestburg. I remember the time I was at your house and DiJo, Gunnar, and I were playing outside in the backyard and I turned a cartwheel and dislocated my elbow. I remeber Gunnar walking me home and making sure I was okay. I remember the day my parents called to tell me of Gunnar's death and I just dropped down into the chair and started to cry because not long before his passing, a good friend of mine had passed on in a car accident. I never though I would have to deal with that pain again but you know it never goes away. This is my first time looking at the tribute page and as soon as the music started, I started crying. My little boy reminded me of Gunnar though, he came up to me when I started crying and said "Mommy, its okay..don't cry" and patted my back and gave me a hug. Well keep in touch and I will always remember Gunnar.

"Memories, memories, memories! Just having that after dinner cig - and I thought of the day I took a pack of cigs from Gunnar's book bag - he was "hiding them from Mom so she'd quit" and the next thing I knew we were ligthing up outside the gym "'cuz I'm 18 now and legal ya know!". Next it was off to basics and going to drive a tank (Might as well as he drove everything like it was a tank). Days spent fishing, hooding, blizzard days, and just hanging out. His last R & R when the doorbell rang - there he was smiling. The day I heard tires squealing and a red camaro outside with music blaring. The e-mail at 5:00 am with the dreaded news - the tears shed. Wondering how best to comfort his family and bros. Now it's a trip to the north and thoughts of what if????
The calendar may be turning quickly - but the memories don't seem to fade.
God speed my friend until another day!"

A Love Song
The mention of my childs name
may bring tears to my eyes
But it never fails to bring
Music to my ears.
If you are really my friend,
Please don't keep me
from hearing the beautiful music.
It soothes my broken heart
And fills my soul with love.

6. RECOVERING FROM GRIEF
by Rabbi Dr. Earl A. Grollman
Someone you love very much has died. Part of you has been buried with your beloved. Pain and fear wash over you in waves. You may hurt so much that you may want to die, too. You wonder if you will ever survive.
Accept your grief: Expect the physical and emotional consequences of the death of your loved one. Grief is the price you pay for love.
Be patient with yourself: Your mind and body and soul need time and energy to mend. Grief is like weeding a flower bed in the summer. You may have to do it over and over again until the seasons change.
Join a group of others who are grieving: Learning about the experiences of others can offer invaluable insight into your own feelings with support, encouragement, and friendship.
Confront your own mortality: Now that you have encountered death, you will see life differently. Knowing how brief life can be, might encourage you to make life more meaningful for yourself and others.
Determine to live again: Grief is a process. Recovery is your choice. You have endured the worst kind of experience. You will survive. Life is for the living.

I, also, would give everything, for just ONE more prank...or sparkler bomb...to see the tell tale grin on his face, and the sparkle in his eyes as he ''attempts'' to embark on his next ''back on the farm'' (or Germany, or Iraq,) or REMEMBER when story...................................
or to hear the squeal of tires and the smell and smoke, the ''burning of rubber''--requirement--2sets of back tires,a red camero, & 2 weeks of R&R!
There isn't a single hour, of any given day, that I don't think about my son, Gunnar. What a challenge he was...from 5AM phone calls, while he was in Iraq, to pink leather motorcycle jackets, & also, among the thousands of memories,he could torment his sister, it DID NOT MATTER, if they were across the room, or 1/2 way across the world...so, ocassionally, just for Gunnar, we continue to call Jo's husband "Cheeseburger"!
Kacy...contact me, someday...I'll NEVER turn down the chance to listen(or talk) about Gunnar!, with anyone!

- ~THANK YOU~ -- Vangi & McKaLyne Lunsford, 22:43:40 01/30/06 Mon [1]
Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

To Gunnar's mother and family:
Today you mark a sad day in your lives, when Gunnar went home to be with our Father. Gunnar was a remarkable soldier and he gave all for what he believed in, freedom, peace, for all, not just a few. Know that the memories of your loss are still very poignant but remember that we honor and pay tribute to this hero and share your grief with you! God bless you and keep you!

From Heaven
I still hear the songs
I still see the lights
I still feel your love
on cold wintery nights
I still share your hopes
and all of your cares
I'll even remind you
to please say your prayers
I just want to tell you
you still make me proud
You stand head and shoulders
above all the crowd
Keep trying each moment
to stay in His grace
I came here before you
to help set your place
You don't have to be
perfect all of the time
He forgives you the slip
If you continue the climb
To my family and friends
please be thankful today
I'm still close beside you
In a new special way
I love you all dearly
now don't shed a tear
Cause I'm spending my
Christmas with Jesus this year
Merry Christmas Gunnar!

At the request of Duane R. Becker I am posting this because he would like to say thank you to everyone that served along side of his son. He is unsure if Gunnar ever talked of his biological father, but if there is anyone that has access to this that is or was in Iraq and have any memory of Gunnar ever speaking of Duane I do know that would be a bit of a comfort to him. On behalf of the Becker family to the Bandits thank you for the memories on this site!

I just wanted to thank everyone that continues to come here. Thanks to the 1SG for sending Updates and reminding me that there is a WAR going on and Updates maybe far and few in between. So it's a good idea to sign up for email updates. Your email address will not be shared. A BIG Thank you to a few special individuals who faithfully report back to me when something is broken. I couldn't do it without you!
It's been a bumpy ride so far but I believe we've found our home on the web and won't have to move again, or run out of webspace.

I cant wait till you come home-the only thing I want is to be married to you...So stay safe and hurry home, Baby...
